Interested in Wideband setup options have questions regarding PLX m300
I am looking into getting a wideband setup, but I have a few options to consider.
Is it neccessary to run a wideband monitor constantly? Or can I just borrow a wideband from my tuning shop, when I get my tune, and then uninstall it. The ecu doesn't read wideband o2 sensor inputs anyway, so it won't help with anything but tuning, and once it's tuned, it will usually stay tuned (am I right?).
Of course with the PLX I have been reading it can be wired into engine tuning software/chips. I just so happen to be going with the s100b from hondata. So my question is, will the hondata be able to use the information sent on an active basis to have a sort of pro-active effect? Will my plx send info to my hondata, which the hondata will send to my ECU? Thus will it prove affective to use the wideband constantly if I have a hondata setup?
Also I am considering going all out with an R500 from PLX, and getting the knock, and EGT sensor readings as well. I know data logging will be very benificial to monitoring the status of my tune. However, I am wondering if this is going "overboard" and is just too much, and not really needed in the real world with a good dyno tune from a very reputable shop with just a plx-m300
Thx

Most tuner shops aren't going to let you "borrow" a wideband unless you put your car on their dyno. So you'd need your own.
I have been using the PLX R300 for some time now, it's a very nice wideband. A lot of good features, the 90 min memory is nice and there was no playing with wideband readings in another program.
However I just downgraded to the PLX M300 because I went with Hondata so I have all of the datalogging built in (was using crome free before).

Yeah I was thinking the m-300 should be enough for me, but it's not for me. It's for my car. It would be nice to have the peice of mind, of not having to constantly glance at the gauge, and have datalogging. Does the hondata s100 have to ability to log the data my m-300 outputs? If so then I wouldn't need the R300. What hondata version are you using? s200 or s300? I am not to good on the specifics, so if you could tell me that would be good thx

ya I am going to put my car on their dyno... So thats what i'm wondering. Once it's tuned, and if I keep everything the same. I wouldn't really need it... Right? Or does it pro-actively help in conjunction with my hondata s100 real time? thx

bad gas and weather affect AFR so I think it would be better to rock the wideband all the time.
For the most part, your tune shouldn't change but say something for some reason goes wrong in your motor (injector fails, etc...) you might realize and save it in time cause you can see a change on the wideband.

Re: (rebo0t)
cool, should save some coin going with the m-300, but the r-300/500 is so tempting with it's LCD display and data logging features. Plus the knock detection sensor, and EGT sensor bonus with the R500 is an amazing combination... Except for $300 more, it's hard to justify

grab a m300 and run it constantly. check this thread for some clarification on how to wire it in and the different options you have. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1585145
