Fabricating aluminum charge pipes are alot more work than steel though...esp if you can't TIG weld aluminum and have to have someone else do it for you. Just something to keep in mind.

They dont make I/C's out of steel! Well for the most part.
Typically you would want to build piping out of aluminum for the heat dissapating characteristics, If its the intake path.
At least thats what i was under the impression of.

Steel, would be the choice. Having someone MIG weld the pipes would yeild better results though (tubing wall thickness is pretty thin for stick welding).

stick welding, sure why not?
I'll be stick welding my exhaust system including downpipe, which is different, I understand. But I figured I'd give the IC piping bend at my throttle body (d16y7) a try. I have a pre-fabbed charge pipe, so it'd just be for experimentation. heck, if it goes well, I may stick weld more of the IC piping.

the cooling benefits of aluminum piping is negligible in comparison to steel. if you can afford Al and have easy access to a TIG, then go ahead and get Al, but if you wanna save some bucks, then MIG together some mild steel and paint it if you want.

Id definatley swap over to the y8 IM before you do this Maybe that's just my opinion though.

yeah I've been considering it. maybe I'll try to trade one of intake manifolds I'm selling, for a d16y8 manifold.
