Default blox IM

Is the blox IM good for boost?

Does it allow those butterfly things to open up at 4400rpm rather than 6000rpm?

I think he's talking about the stock GSR IM, the dual butterfly setup. That's about the only IM with that, all others will be going to a single.

yes but the butterfly on the manifold opens as soon as u throttle the car.....whats the 4400 and 6000 all about? is he expecting the vtec to come in earlier by changing the IM?

I think he's talking about the secondary intake runners..........
Some cars have them, some cars don't.

I think on preludes - they come factory at 5750rpm...........not sure at all

I'm using the p28 with hondata so I don't have them

I'm pretty sure the secondary intake runners are electronically controlled - so I don't think the change in manifold will have anything to do with that.....

If you're tuning with hondata - as long as you don't have the p28- but the p72 or whatever....you can adjust when they open.

If you switch the intake manifold, they disappear all together

what do you mean they disappear altogether.

I have a gsr. My vtec is set at 4400rpm so I hear a sound chage at 4400rpm and a sound change at 6000rpm which is supposedley to be those butterfly things. I want vtec and the butterflys to all open up at 4400rpm since i will be putting on a small 16g and its efficency drops after 6000rpm. thanks

so is the blox im good for boost?

just unplug the vacum hose for the dual butterflys and it will stay open at all time.

If you switch to a blox manifold you will no longer have the butterflys. So the only sound change you will hear is when you go into vtec.

And to answer your question, a blox manifold should be fine for the power output it sounds like your going for.

...and why would you think doing that would increase your efficiency?
...it won't

the blox manifold will be fine for boost but i would go with the new gsr aebs because of the price

and only stock gsr intake manifolds have the secondaries, also people get aftermarket intake maniflds to get rid of the secondaries for more top end power

The stock GSR manifold is fine for boost.
