Well, my motor (Sleeved with forged internals D16Z6) just showed up yesterday. I have now come to a point where I have to decide which intake manifold to get. I currently have a semi-ported Y8 manifold that I bought a while back because at the time, it was considered the "Best" overall intake for the D series.
Now with the skunk2 out, I don't know which one to get.
Any input would be appreciated.

This is the last thing I need before we put it in the car.

Does Golden Eagle have one for the D-series?? I thought those looked pretty nice.

If you have a standalone like FAST or ACCEL then get an STR or Venom otherwise I think you should stick with the Y8 (maybe have it extrune honed for more HP)cause the Skunk2 with its extra extra long runners looks like its better suited for N/A or a mild greddy like turbo set-up...BTW if you got an EF and really want the skunk2 have a hammer ready to beat up the firewall,its pretty tall.

I have Hondata. I thought about the extrude hone but they gave me an outrageous price so I said skip it. I may try again in case they screwed up. Thanks for the info. I may just save the $250.

Yes, they do, but it is $600. I refuse to pay $600 for an intake that I haven't any dyno's to prove it worth.

jg has one out now too i think...i know they sell a sohc turbo kit that includes the manifold but im not sure if they even sell it separate (i dont see why they wouldnt)...also no idea on its performance but its another to look into

Anyone tell me will the Y8 mani bolt on to a D16a6? Perhaps this will be a good mod for me.

I ordered the skunk2 manifold a few days ago to finish out my gf's set-up. While runner length does have a great deal of effect upon where the engine will make power, the runner length is still shorther than the y8/z6 manifolds. Both the plenum and runner length are better suited towards higher rpm breathing than the stock counterparts or the eldebrock manifold. I will be engineering sheet metal intake manifolds this year at school, I'll hopefully have them out for spring time exclusively for the d-series. While the intake manifolds on the market are fairly well designed, none incorportate helmholtz resonator technology. The peak torque gains are significant in the area of 10-20%, combined with velocity stacks for each runner significant gains can be expected. For now we are stuck with what is on the market, and IMO the skunk2 is probably the best choice to date effectiveness/monetary wise.

And how much is the mani.

In the neighborhood of 300.00 range. They will be made of sheet metal 304 16-18 gauge stainless to keep the cost down. I will hand tig'ing all of them. I have another huge project I am working on for Honda's, as soon as that is finished and produced the intake manifolds will be next.

The skunk2's dont come with their own throttle body.

Boosted, I was hoping you would jump in. I knew we had discussed this earlier but still wasn't sure this is what I needed. Thanks for the info. I will order one on Monday.

You think there will be clearance issues with the Skunk2 and Hondata gasket since it is physically bigger than the Y8?

Anybody install this thing with the Skunk2 gasket yet?
