which intake manifold?
I've got a 96 GSR with the Greddy turbo kit, motor is stock other than a light flywheel. I'm replacing the blue box and 310's with a 2b and 440's, but I'm still undecided on ECU and intake manifold. I can go with a P28 and Skunk2/B&M manifold, or stock manifold and OBD1 P72. Overall the cost will be less with the P72 ECU and manifold, but I'm wondering what kind of numbers people are getting with the stock intake manifold? I'm not looking for more than 250whp with the stock bottom end and about 300 when i rebuild.

use the stock manifold...you can make plenty of power with it. Maybe take out the butterfly valves in it to open it up more.

Thanks, I'll probably just stick with the B18C manifold. Less work for now anyway, I dont want to make a new intake pipe now either.

Re: which intake manifold? (Shaun K)
I loved my str manifold....HUGE power difference over the skunk2 type r manifold I had on before.
Unfortunately I have to sell it now because my new motor has a b16 head. This manifold will only fit a gsr head. Email me if you're interested... |
Re: which intake manifold? (Willis)
I think the STR manifold may be a bit much for a street car that will never see a drag strip wont it? I hear they are mostly for track only.

Re: which intake manifold? (Shaun K)
it may have made more power at a peak point...but ill bet it didnt make power through the range and im sure it lost power and torqe on the bottom end. keep the stock manifold

i would go with the new JG intake manifold http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: which intake manifold? (BoostinDC2)
Would the new Edelbrock/JG be worth it on 7psi tho? I'm thinking it might not be.

Re: which intake manifold? (Shaun K)
for the price of the manifold, install hassle, and fabbing new pipe, I don`t think it`s worth it. But i`m just a country boy
