Installing Turbo: What are the most commonly forgot items to have?
Hey all,
I all the parts, either coming in the mail, have already, or know I need to order, for my turbo setup. As we all know too well, there is always a million little "something"s we end up running up to the hardware store to get. I figured I would post this here and perhaps some people will toss in the things they forgot to get ahead of time.

So, what am I forgetting? What did you forget?

always use a new oil pan gasket, extra clamps. and teflon tape.
edit- also bolts for your wastegate elbow/ wastegate.
zip ties. screws. nuts. bolts

nice! I completely forgot about the oil pan gasket! I have plenty of teflon tape, and extra clamps.

running open wastegate? you will ne a dump tube unless you want the exhaust to go right back into your motor when it opens up

Wastegate dumptube is already in that list. I already have a couple of gallons of amsoil and oil filters that I just keep on hand, so I didnt include those in the list

Unless your planning on hitting up the exhaust shop your definately going to need a welder. For obviously the flexpipe but something a lot of people forget is that they need to tap into the oil pan, and weld the oil line there. Don't use jbweld for that, definately get a quality weld job.
A tester to check for vacuum leaks. A buddy of mine made something from home depot and we used a compressor and checked for leaks up to 10psi and we found 3-4 leaks, saved me a huge hassle of trying to find them just by guessing. Make sure all the clamps, fittings are tight as possible. Those stud kits you got, make sure those damn bolts are tight, they have a very high tendancy of coming loose.
Have a car ready to go for any store runs. Bceause trust me, no matter how prepared you are, there will be something that you forget. Or something that you need to exchange and swap. Grab some locktite, locktite washers for the wastegate/manifold....i've had mine come loose on me twice, until i finally did it right. The gaskets for those suck, so you don't really need to even use one, just make sure the **** is tight and check it frequently.
a ton of tools, a few buddies to keep you company and help out....then have a few beers lined up for the finish and then take some pics

Teflon Tape.
Replacement manifold flange nuts.

-You might need to buy some slim fans.
-A dremel is super useful, definately need it to notch your block.
-Plugs and nipples for the vac. manifold.
-Gauge pod and more gauges.
-Wideband.
-Larger exhaust?
-You might want to install the parts you can as you go along. That way if you start having problems you know what you did wrong, instead of having to troubleshoot through the entire install.
-A dremel is super useful, definately need it to notch your block.
-Plugs and nipples for the vac. manifold.
