Default installed 550's, now running way to lean??.....

i installed some low impedance 550's last night, and its running way to lean. originally idle a/f was in the low 20:1 range, i added about 30% more fuel back in with the uberdata, but that only brought it down to 18:1. (this is a .bin that was working fine with 440s and i just changed the injector size and now this). i soldered in the inline resistors to the yellow/black power wires for each injector as well. anyone have ideas. im trying to figure out if its a problem with the injectors/my install if its related to uberdata. i was planning on the dyno tonight too

Pulled the plugs yet? Are all the injectors firing?

Big injectors take a long time to open, so you have to add lots of fuel at low pulsewidth (idle).

i downloaded another .bin file that was already using 550's. after a minute of idling at around 17:1, it dropped back down in the 14's. vacuum is still lean but boost in in the low 11's. i wonder if i was just using a bad chip(even though i tried a few) because one of these times i threw a solid cel.

If you do find a problem with the injectors, just let us know and we'll immediately take care of it. Sounds like you are making progress on the solution though.

Good Luck, and let us know how it goes.

hey guys thanks for all the replies. the injectors are working wonderfully (they start up better than my rc440s did too ). the problem is now fixed and my boost is up a few more psi . as of now im chalking it up to using a bad chip/getting a bad burn. i probably had some static electricity and fried the chip, or maybe just needed to restart my computer....

Glad to see you got that fixed.let me know how much power you make on the dyno!

bleh, day before the dyno and it happend again. i went to reburn and pull a few % in vacuum so i wouldnt suck gas on the highway, and now i cant get a decent running map. fuel values on the wideband are down into the 8's in boost (mind you i didnt touch the boost maps), and jump well over 20:1 at idle, and when i take my foot off the gas, it still reads like 17:1 and my injectors should be shut. so far i've tried...

restarting my computer
unplugging and replugging in my burner
making a scratch basemap
downloading and using both premade and basemaps with uberdata 1.7 (was using 1.6666)
using both brand new never used and also previously functional chips

sometimes ill get solid cel, and other times it will work fine just run all over the place. this is using the moates usb burn1 unit. the wideband sensor is still pretty on point, reading just about 20.9% o2 free air....

Sounds like your having fun with uberdata bugs (currupt files etc)
You may want to consider looking into crome

very true... larger p&h injectors are not linear, meaning you have to add a lot or take a lot out where as with tuning stock injectors, you take a little out on the map, and a little comes out on the a/f ratio. Uberdata is buggy/hard to tune so if you keep trying to tune like you are (burning a rom and go back), you are gonna own yourself... I have to make so many changes when tuning with uberdata that it's rediculous, and then sometimes after everything looks good, it goes back and does things such as what you are experiencing. Not knocking uberdata, but if you wanna run it, you better invest in a romulator.

yea tell me about it, i had it too man, almost perfect, just got greedy or something. right now im running a virus scan on my comp just in case.

i get what you are saying about the larger pulsewidth and all, but i seriously just pulled 2% of a small part of my vacuum map and then everything is whacked out... after that i put the 2% back in and its still all over the place. gonna try to mess with it more tomorrow. im just trying to figure out if its a problem with my burner itself, cause i'd have to get it sent back out to be looked at

if it's ur burner, you'd more than likely have solid check lights and unreadible chips.

ok, just tried burning a whole bunch of different maps, and im left with 3 diff chips that all give me a solid cel . does anyone think its possible that the inline resistors i used are bad and somehow frying my chips due to impedance differences? they were lying in my tool box for the better portion of a year, leftover from my last turbo build.

moates usb burn1 unit. i burnt a resistor in it about a year ago, sent it back and craig fixed it and it has been working flawlessly since (until this if the burner is my problem)

semi-update: i think my air fuel might only be above 20:1 at idle before i drive it for the first time. also my boost is now 10:1 without changing any settings......

i hate uberdata, it always does stupid things like that to me, try using chrome, never had a problem with it

ok, more issues. got a new burner and it works fine (im using it on a friend's car also). i just cant get my car to idle- or i should say my air fuel at idle is like 60:1. i added 30% back into my fuel map at idle, and it didnt change the a/f. **** sometimes it just reads % o2 at idle.

i am leaning toward the resistors being bad. i think im gonna go pick up new ones and solder them in and see how it works. anyone have other suggestions. i have to dyno on monday or i wont be able to for the rest of the summer
