Default Inconsistent Boost-Civic EX 1998 D16y8 Greddy Turbo Kit

Honda Civic 1998 Ex
Greddy Turbo kit- EManage~9lbs

I've run the car with this setup for about 2 years now. About 2 months ago my ECU shorted out and it flooded my motor with fuel. Anyways I fixed that with a replacement ECU and changed out my spark plugs and my battery (because vehicle was left Armed for a few days it drained the battery, so I decided to buy a new one anyways). I did also remove all my turbo piping to drain any fuel that could have gotten there.

Since then my boost has been kind of inconsistent but only in higher RPMs. I drive pretty conservatively until I need to enter the highway. I noticed that my boost would feel normal all the way until around 4500+ RPM. The boost gauge would continue to increase but the needle would take two steps forward and one step back. Vehicle does the same thing two steps forward and one step back. It's kind of hard to describe but it's basically inconsistent boost or incremental boost. This happens in any gear.

I double checked all the piping and the couplers, even bought new couplers to secure the piping.

Overall, I'm not really sure what to point the finger at.
Maybe my Emanage got reset?
Could there be a boost leak from removing the piping?

Sounds like a wastegate not holding boost

it's either the wastegate actuator (bad diaphragm, loose mounting bolts, etc)
or the turbo could have a shaft play issue causing the wheels to slightly contact the housing... do you hear a high pitched metallic sound?

unless you have a boost controller the wastegate should open normally, flooding the engine and changing ecu's has nothing to do with it. unless you have a boost cut set somewhere that you don't know about.

the emanage can't be reset, at least not by unplugging it. the rom is stored on a solid state chip that can be only be reset by the software or by passing a uv light over the chip.

There's no tingly sound at all but to make sure, I pulled off the turbo intake and wiggled it around a bit try to feel for shaft play and everything seems good there.

I'm not sure of what to check on the waste gate, it's an internal waste gate if that's any help. But if it is a bad waste gate is it just better to replace it or to try and fix it?

Have you changed anything on the car? if you haven't then it could be a pressure source problem, a boost leak, or a wastegate problem

as wantboost said to meny thinks can be

start at mesuring AFR

than air leakings, boost controler setings (if there is any), wastegate actuator test, turbo test and then will see

why Emanage to an engine that can be properly tuned via stock ECU?

Because he's OBD2, it cannot be tuned.

while a chipped OBD1 ecu would be a better solution the Greddy emanage works well as long as the boost level isn't increased over what the stock wastegate runs.
