Sooo Ive been pushing 200whp/188wtq for about 2 months now, and 160whp/148wtq for 3 months prior to that.
All on the OE spec Exedy clutch. It honestly held its own kinda like a BAUSS for the whole time. Only time it would slip (and thats being harsh) would be when I launched in first, shifted hard into second, then threw it into third and it would slightly slip. Other than that, smoked many N/A b series with high perf clutches.
It slipped really bad last night 2nd and 3rd.
I want an XTD Stage 3 clutch, does anyone have any hands on experience with them? I dont care if its stiff, I just wanna chirp 1st through 3rd.

Re: I'm poor, homeless, unemployed and have a turbo Civic.
My experience's with ebay clutches like that arn't good, I put one in a 99 Si that I had and with in a week the clutch disc broke apart, and I drove it normal for the break in period shifting at like 4k, It was chattering so I took the tranny back off and chunks of the disc fell out.
Like most people will tell you on here just get a good name brand clutch.
I'm assuming due to the thread title that you don't have a ton of money to spend on a clutch so my advice to you would be to stop smashing gears and save every penny you get.

I had a stock clutch that broke inside my transmission and same exact thing happend. When it was pulled pieces fell out.
I have an xtd clutch and so do my freinds and have nothing but good things to say about them. I decided to go with it after all the nissan guys said good things about them. It feels like a stock clutch the pedal isnt hard at all but bites hards.

I have an XTD Stage 3... which i will shortly be replacing for a CC Stage 5
It holds 300 well... only been on it for about 1.5k miles but it gets the job done
Only negative things i have to say are harsh engagement and clutch pedal is real light

like i said on d series.org, the stage 3 is ****.
get a stage 4 if you must go for a chinese clutch.
or just do it once and do it right with a comp clutch.

Re: I'm poor, homeless, unemployed and have a turbo Civic.
the only bad thing i can say is before i put the clutch on the disk was coming apart on the edges, but i too was very broke, and its been about 1,000 miles on it now its a stage 3 on my ls, it doesnt really chirp after second, but it does grab very well, it engages very high in the pedal,
also there was no brake in period, i bought it from a friend with a light wieght flywheel that came with it for sixty bucks, brand new, so i cant complain at all...
hope that helps

i've run two of the full face F1 clutches and have had great luck, nothing too crazy but my current 177whp ls vtec loves the one I have now for like 10k miles and the other one I put in a bolt on crx si lasted 40k miles of terrible drive abuse and never complained. Another buddy of mine has an f1 stage 2 clutch in his b20vtec and it lasted 15k miles and a million track trips before he finally sold the car. if you install it carefully and break it in properly will work fine most likely.

Re: I'm poor, homeless, unemployed and have a turbo Civic.
i have a xtd stage 2 clutch in my n/a gsr, no problems at all, for the price i am very satisfied with it, it grabs awesome. i know alot of people currently using them aswell, and they are holding up, with no problems, my motor setup with stage 2 currently around 200whp, doesnt slip or nothing, the pedal is soft, but thats it, my buddie running a xtd n/a 230whp his is also holding up.. and another buddy of mine running xtd clutch in his 508whp turbo setup he also doesnt complain at all about it. very good clutch for the price IMO

Re: I'm poor, homeless, unemployed and have a turbo Civic.
i didit read all the posts, but i do have exp with xtd clutches as an installer.
i had a customer, but one, came in wrong (hydro splined) needed cable. they overnighted a new disc and call tag. clutch didnt last that long, and again they over nighted a new clutch at the buyers exp, but the clutch was covered the were going to do ground.
may not be the greatest in the world, but they hold fairly well, and the 2 dealings i had with them, i had nothing but good thing to say about it. now that was 4 years ago, and i know times change, but hope for the best.

I sold the car in June, but the current owner has had the car tuned again after my turbo change, and it made 489 whp on 93 pump with a billet 6262. Only time will tell if it holds up.

Re: I'm poor, homeless, unemployed and have a turbo Civic.
I have used at LEAST 6 of these clutches on my own personal vehicles and other builds I have done. I have had NO problems with them and they offer excellent customer service. I would gladly buy another one..
Anyone ever read the "fine print" on the document you get with it. Says "modified action clutch. Los angelos, ca"... The discs sure do look a LOT like the action ones... oh well. Like I said, they work great. I would reccomend them over ACT anyday.

Do it right and do it once...get something name brand. I would personally go with a Comp Clutch. I have a stage 4 in my GSR and daily it with zero complaints
