I'm joining you guys!!! Where's the welcoming party? I also have a few questions
Hey,
I just bought a turbo off of ebay.
The stuff I bought is:
BRAND NEW Garrett/Aireasearch T04 Turbo (Retails for $800+), BRAND NEW Apex'i Twin Chamber Blowoff Valve (Sitll in the Plastic! Retail $200+), Apex'i AVC-D Boost Controller (In Mint Condition! $200+ Retail), Apex'i Turbo Timer (Mint Condition $100+ Retail), HKS Starion Upgrade Front Mount Intercooler (Good Condition! These sell on Ebay for $200+ ALL DAY!) and a Turbonetics Deltagate wastegate (Good condition, $200+ Retail).
I bought all this for $1,100.
Is this a good deal? What else do I need? I have an Apex'i S-AFC. How do I gaurantee shipment of my stuff when I send him $1,100?
thanks guys!
Joe

might wanna go with the Tial WG 35mm, the Deltagate has issues with boost spike.
Have you thought about AEM EMS or Hondata?

If its a straight t4 then you will have loads of lag cause its a HUGE turbo, but it'll kick your *** at about 5-6000rpms till redline depending on your exhaust setup (stock is assumed here).

Re: I'm joining you guys!!! Where's the welcoming party? I also have a few questions (shadowdawn)
what kind of manifold will i need? Is it one to fit a T4? This is a T04 turbo, is this the same? I am using a full catback from a type R. 2.25" full mandrel bent piping. What kind of exhaust is better? Is it better to use a larger diameter?

Revhard, inline pro and max rev make manifolds with the T4 flange. Good luck.

whose? mine?
I plan on running a maximum of 8 psi of boost.
I'm going to stay away from upgrading the internals...for now.
when I get the turbo, what should i look out for?

not a bad way to start a custom kit..8psi with that turbo will still be alot, fuel mangament should be your biggest concern, safc with a fpr and bigger injectors might work, but save your money and buy a hondata or EMS!! LIke everyone else said, fuel pump. oil lines, intercoooler piping etc..go with the inlinepro manifold or one from south florida performance(sick as hell)..wastegate with that turbo I would use a tial 40mm or hks unit. Ditch the exhaust and go with a thermal 3inch or custom 3inch, this will help spool that big *** turbo..thats all I can think of right now..plan on spending another 2000 though...

Re: I'm joining you guys!!! Where's the welcoming party? I also have a few questions (tygsr)
$2000?
I was thinking like $500 more max!
I have $300 for the manifold. Is this enough?

when I said 2000 that was refering to fuel managment and all the other things I suggested, not just the manifold...

Sounds like you'e new to turbo charging...You have to do a lot of research before you start buying things. From the looks of it, I "think" you just saw a partial turbo kit on eBay and went after the bid...I think you got an ok deal on the turbo but you're missing lots of parts that will be important for the kit...For one..you don't seem to have any type of fuel management yet....From what I'm reading, you also don't have a DP, charge pipes, and all the little esential things to go with it....But good luck with your set up and let us know how it turns ouT!

yes very new to FI.
I have an SAFC and I'm planning on running it combination with larger injectors and a fpr.
I need a dp, charge piping, manifold, oil return lines, etc.
Anyone got any of these?
Will a T3/T4 turbo manifold fit my T4?
Thanks guys.

Use http://www.escrow.com
cost is like 1 % or something, well worth it to prevent a rip off. Even if you don't end up using it suggest it and see if the guy balks. If he does he's probably shady.

a t3 or t3/t4 manifold will NOT fit your turbo. i really REALLY think you shouldn't have bought all that stuff... no offense or anything, but i dont think hardly anyone on here is running a deltagate by choice. as for the apexi BOV, they're not the best you can get for sure, i forgot what problems they had... but i think they leaked or something. you definately should have asked here if it was a good deal. for $1100 i would have bought a t3, a drag manifold, a tial wastegate and a spearco intercooler. i would still have a lot more stuff to buy, but it would all be really awesome product. anyways, since you already bought it, i'd like to say good luck with your turbo project, and that if you can, try to sell your deltagate and upgrade to a TiAL.
