Default If you think you have a boost leak...... you probably do!

symtoms: vacum is sitting at about -450 on my greddy boost gauge... The BOV is wide open at idle but it closes itself when the throttle is engaged..is that normal for the Vortech BOV's?

Ive thought that I had a boost leak for a little while now but I didnt know exactly where it was.. Well now ive found the main one for sure.. While taking my car around the block I took it to 2nd gear and I heard what sounded like a bolt flying out of my BOV.. it made a big ****** pshhhhhhhhhh noise.. so I pull over and the pipe that connects to the turbo had popped off.. so theres the main boost leak.. put it back in and tightened it up but I still have some kinda boost leak.. maybe thats why my car hasnt felt up to par lately..

also half throttle feels like its got alot of power where as full throttle sucks ***.. I have no idea what that could be from..

sorry for the long post if anyone has experienced any of these things let me know what was going on..

I put it in paragraphs so maybe now ill get some replys..

I know that when vacum is above -500 that means theres either a vacum leak or I need to do a compression test.. Im assured my compression is ok because I havnt boosted over 8psi yet but ya never know, hopefully ill be able to do that tomrow.. I checked my vacum lines and they seem to be "ok" i dont see anything wrong with them.. I completly unhooked the vacum line at idle to see what it would do and my vacum shot up to -100.. I dont know what the point of that would be but I did it just to see what would happen..

anyways any help or experience would be nice..

turbo life is not going so well for me lately..

another update: I checked my vacum lines and they all seem ok.. I decided to unhook the turbo XS MBC(because I didnt experience the high vacums till i hooked up the BC) and what do u know, vacum went down to -450, plugged it back in vacum goes back up to -550.. what would be causing this?

btw with no one replying I feel like im talking to a wall.. even if u dont have anything helpful at least make fun of me so I know people are seeing this..

Just so you know. I installed my greddy boost gauge early in my car....so its basically stock now. And I read a perfect 600 at idle.

i took out the boost controller, it seems to run fine now..

i still need to figure out why my vacum goes from -450 to -550 with the boost controller installed..

i still need to figure out why the vortech BOV is open at idle..

and lastly I still need to figure out why the car "feels" faster at half throttle vs. full throttle

my BOV stays partially open at idle...it isnt wide open.... try adjusting the bolt on it see if that helps keep it closed alittle longer.....
