if i buy a honda 5-wire o2.... how can i monitor it with my laptop?
i talked to a guy with an rx7 that has a wideband hooked to his laptop.... what would i need to accomplish this?
or better yet, i just checked out the FJO website and the thing can plug into a laptop..... does Hondata software read a wideband o2?

in addtion to the wideband you will need a controller and software that can at least log a 0-5 volt output. Fjo has software available with their kits and I think techedge is working on software for their controller. Hondata and AEM EMS both have the ability to log the a/f ratios. They accomplish this by reading an output voltage from the controller and, using a chart of values of voltage v. a/f ratio, converting that voltage into an a/f ratio.

You cant just buy the sensor itself and have it read the output. You need a controller box somewhat like what comes with the tech-edge or FJO. FJO comes with its own software and you can order the software for the tech edge. I have the EMS and I can datalog my 02 reading and read my display in my car.
I havent keept up with hondata, so Im not to sure. Might want to ask the hondata tuners.

The FJO works with Hondata software.
That's the system I'm running.

bump for anyone that knows if it'll work with Hondata software
But you have to have the whole wideband setup, just having a sensor won't do anything for you.

Have you guys ever dealt with the HKS A/F knock amp...its a wideband O2 meter...seems pretty cheap...well it's just a monitoring device...but what's your guys opinions on the product?

For people who want to monitor non-oem sensors, but are running the OEM honda computer with no logging, you can try this: http://www.labjack.com
Its fairly cheap, and lets you monitor multiple sensors from your laptop, but the included software is pretty basic-barebones. It even has outputs so you can control switches or solenoids, but it doesn't function without a PC.
