Default Identifying Rod Bearing color codes

Hi, I am in the middle of putting my block back together and am currently stuck on choosing the proper bearings for my eagle rods. I want to use oem Honda bearings. When i took the bearings out there is a color patch on the sides of them but..... The motor had a 150k miles on it and i cannot tell whether the color is a brown or a black. In my repair manual it sais to look at the crank and i had found some numbers but cannot make anything of it. On the crank Journal 1 (closest to the timing belt side) has a "D" on it. Journal 2 and 3 have a "C" and 4 has a "D3." This is not a picture of my own crank but i am just using it as a visual for where the numbers are located. Im hoping someone can help me out with this. Thanks in advance.

Paul

My stock Rods have a "3" printed on them. What your saying is...for example journal 1 which is stamped with a "D" on the crank and the rod which is stamped with a "3" would mean, according to my repair manual it is a black bearing correct? and so on for 2 and 3 would make it a "C3" which is a brown bearing.

correct. but that is only a starting point. your rod could be a diff size, your crank could be thinner too.

Yep. I must have skipped the part where he mentioned the Eagle rods.

I would take what the stock colors for your bearings are with a grain of salt. Measure your bearing clearances correctly.

Thanks guys. I had already measured the crank journals and the eagle rods. They are within spec according to the manual. And the Eagle rods are exactly to .001mm same size as the stock rods. I guess i got lucky. I will still plasti gauge the bearings just to make sure.
