I went again, even better times!
Well I went again tonight and made a few small changes.
I ran open downpipe, and used 100 octane race gas and set my timing to stock instead of 2 degrees retarded. Still running stock tires at 17 psi inflation and only 5 psi of boost:
60' = 2.071
330' = 5.632
1/8 = 8.582
MPH = 85.64
1000' = 11.159
1/4 = 13.340
MPH = 104.87
Is that crazy or what! I can't belive how well this thing is running. With some slicks this could've been a 12 second run on only 5 psi on a stock D16 with the tiny TD04-15g!
I am so stoked! It looks like my goal of 12 seconds with greddy kit is going to be very easy to achieve.

Hey guys, thanks for the compliments.
I am considering running 2 degrees advanced timing with the 100 octane fuel. But I have never heard of anyone doing that so I'm afraid to try it. Does anyone have any input on this?

I guess I'm not gonna try advancing the timing- too risky.
But I do have the ZEX 59300 cam, so I'm gonna put that in and dyno it again, and see where that gets me.
The car weighs about 1940lbs at the track, and I'm 165lbs so = 2105lbs w/driver.
The car dyno'd 166 hp and 147 tq with the 2 1/4" exhaust, 92 octane, and 2 degrees retarded timing on 5 psi of boost.
It seems that the open downpipe and stock timing with 100 octane gave me quite a bit of power.
The average trapspeed the other night was right at 100 mph, but with the above changes the average trapspeed was 103.5 mph. It was about 8 degrees cooler out last night too, but there was a slight headwind at the track.

All my friends are pressuring me to up the boost, but I want to keep it at 5 psi and add the ZEX cam and see what it'll do then.
Then I might get some drag radials and/or slicks and try for 12's on only 5 psi.

forget that cam.
stick with OE cams.
open up ur exhaust 2.25 may be too restrictive.
think about LSD?
stand alone?
bigger injectors?
dont know how parts are avail for ur D series engine

Well, from now on I'm gonna run open downpipe at the track, so I'm not worried about the exhaust system.
I'm trying to keep it cheap for now, so no standalone or LSD or bigger intercooler for a while. I'm even hesitating on buying slicks or drag radials. Plus it would be real cool to run 12's on the stock tires- I don't see many people doing that.
As far as the ZEX cam, I'm real skeptical about it too. But ZEX man said he's been running it for 3 yrs. in his D16 powered racecar with 418 whp and recommends trying it- besides, I already have it. And if it doesn't make power then I'll take it out. No biggie. I also have some RC310's waiting for when I up the boost- I don't really know how well that's gonna work with the blue box though. We'll see!
