i think i'm detonating, am i correct?
i was just cruising last night at a steady 70 mph at about 3100 rpm +/-, partial throttle, under vacuum and no boost when i felt the car jerk three consecutive times. this occured on two seperate occasions during the 90 mile trip.
here are the pics of some of the plugs (the clearest pics):

I get a "burp" but i think its cause of the realyl cold weather here and my Greddy Blue box. I don't hear the "rocks in a coffee can" as people say, but those plugs look fine, tho I have an untrained eye.....
Let me see what I can find on the web

that's how it felt, like a "burp" or jerk. i'm running a hondata system that has been tuned. it was pretty cold out during the 90 mile trip. maybe mid 50's at 2 am.
i can't seem to get a definite answer on how to inspect for detonation in the plugs. some say, look for silver on the electrode while others tell me you can't really see any type of detonation with forged pistons.
thanks.

Hmm is your timing stock? What rated octane gas do you use? Since its Hondata tunned Im sure your A/F is nice. I just looked in my ref. maual and your plugs looked fine. Im here @ school its like 10 degrees so Im know somethings up ..

i don't know what the timing is at. i haven't checked it with a timing gun. i left the tuning completely up to the tuner. the a/f was tuned for 12:1 under boost but, i'm not sure what the a/f was tuned for at partial throttle.
i'm not sure if you noticed, or if it's visible in the pic, but, there are tan to yellowish specks on the insulator.

i think the hestation that you are talking about is common with hondata. there was a post about this awhile ago.

i think that if the hesitation is there, it would have occured in the beginning, immediately after it was tuned a month and a half ago.

Are those plugs gapped right. I mean, it looks as if the tip is bending down a little. They also look a little scorched...

Most likely you have slightly improper part throttle tuning. Tho you've got a Hondata, unless you've rode around for a few hours with some wideband streettuning going on.....You won't really know how correct your fuel curves are.

i'm running the AFC hack, tuned to 12:1 A/F, and i'm getting a little jerk/burp and then it smoothens out by itself. i don't heard anything either and it happened during an hour and a half trip to rivercity raceway in 45 degree weather. i think we are having the same problems in the same conditions. anyone else have this problem?

Detonation is going to happen under load. You won't experience it at partial throttle even if the mixture is way lean with a lot of ignition advance (more likely to experience misfire in this scenario).
I think the hondata tuning is off or your hondata system is just wacked out.
