I normally wouldn't brag....but
I was on Tech TV tonight! They found my friend Lisa's website, http://www.girlspeed.org and decided to do a little feature on girls who mod their rides. My car is the turbo'd teg.
If you wanna check it out, it airs again at 10AM and 1PM Eastern time. I mentioned Honda-Tech and Turbomafia during the filming, but it all got cut out.
Its a pretty cute feature, I waited to tell everyone about it until I saw the first one though...I wanted to make sure it wasn't going to be total cheeseball.
Anyways, even though its been 2 years since the install, I wanted to thank all the people that helped me out in the FI forums. You know who you are.
Oh, quick note...her hatch is NOT turbo'd. When they pieced her story first, they interchanged shots of her engine with my engine. But when she opens her hood for the camera, you'll see it's stock.

The Tech TV write up on it was pretty lame, but I didn't get to see it yet. I do have the TiVO catching the replay for me in the morning.

Slammed Hondas, tricked out Acuras, bumpin' Toyotas. Personally, I don't understand the fascination with dropping thousands of dollars into a car you've already paid some $15,000 for. Granted, I can understand making upgrades to cars... installing a new stereo or making other simple adjustments. But tricking out an average car with turbo boosters and stabilizers and then racing it just doesn't appeal to me. This coming from a guy who owns a Subaru Forester.
Love 'em or hate 'em, these cars are here to stay. The cars, called "ricers," or "tuners," are just spruced up, Japanese-made cars that are tuned up to go faster than normal. After all, tuners and ricers are really just a modern extension of America's obsession with cars, right? The tuner/ricer culture is actually pretty interesting. It's just a bunch of guys who hold huge car shows, are obsessed with half-dressed models (the female kind, not new cars), and are out to have a good time. What's so bad about that?
Not so fast. Tonight on "Tech Live," we'll introduce you to the ladies behind GirlSpeed -- the female answer to this male-dominated car culture. GirlSpeed's got a website, but they've also got the support of young women from around the country who can do just as well as the boys. And as the GirlSpeed crew says: There's no shame in losing to a girl.
We've got this story and a lot more tonight on "Tech Live." Tune in at 8 p.m. Eastern, 5 p.m. Pacific.
Did I mention my other car's a Honda Civic EX? Dang, I'm so not cool.

Big differerence between a tuner and a ricer.. tuners are useful..ricers just buy as many APC parts as they can possibly slap on their ride.. and screw the tallest spoiler into their trunk lid as they can find..

I agree with the rice comment, but there are a ton of guys who mod their cars the same way.
Wow, I didn't see that letter. I guess his ***** were severed at birth.
