Default i just came back from the machine shop.... LOOK INSIDE

I stoped by for lunch to see if they were finished gringing my crank. I already knew it was going to be 96 bucks to get it ground becuse the guy i got the crank from spun 2 rod berings and the main bering were fucked also. Well when he told me the crank was done he said we are just waiting on the berings. I was like i was going to get them from my honda dealer. I did not know that i would need special ones since he was gringing them down. So i was like how much is it going to be now. He totals it up with tax and it comes out to $207. I am like WTF. This is for a ******* d16y8 crank. Am I getting *** raped on this. Someone please reassure me that I am not getting fucked!! I did not pay the guy yet. I was fine with 96 But almost 100 bucks for ******* berings!! That is an *** rapeing.

That is about right for OEM Honda bearings. Whenever you do a rebuild you should get new bearings. And since the crank was ground you NEED new bearings.

Um yeah that's pretty much what happens if you have to grind off crank damage, you need bearings way out of the range that honda manufactures them. This was why I decided to just ditch my shortblock and replace it.

if your honda crank has damage from spun bearings you need to throw it away. a honda crank is heat treated for hardness about .030 thousandths deep. when you grind the crank your taking away the outside heat treating which in turn causes the crank to fail. i never would use a damaged crank,i always replace them with an undamaged one.
