I installed my intercooler today.. bad experience :(
I wasn't too happy about how the results come out.. especially how i damaged the bumper when I was using a dremel
Also that U bend pipe made me crazy ! first it wouldn't work when the windshield reservior is there, and it just hits the bumper, and make my bumper a REAL REAL tight fit.. with my strength of course
Let me know what u guys think, help me out if u can !
Here is how the damage is....
Here is my trouble U bend:

hell yeah XBird....what did you end up using for IC brackets?? Im thinkin bout going to home depot and just looking for some brackets to JB weld to the top of the IC so I can drill it to that support beam in the front. Looks good bro
BTW..where did you get your IC piping? Did you already have a kit or did you get it custom?

i had a greddy turbo kit, but it was WITHOUT intercooler
i bought these pipes locally, i got one 90 degree elbow from jcwhitney.com
i bought a long piece of aluminum metal from homedepot, it costs around 9 bucks...
then i got somebody to weld it on the intercooler....
i hope i have done better on the U bend and the bumper cuttings.....
good luck
thanks

we just installed that exact same intercooler on a GST this weekend, along with a 16g and 550's.

Re: I installed my intercooler today.. bad experience :( (VaporTrail)
i just used a good quality steak knife to cut the bumper grill and all the other misc. stuff to make room for the ic. i first started w/ an exacto then a razor blade but the flat cutting edge makes it really hard to guide the blade in a straight line. since the steak knife has the "teeth" to cut through tough meat, the knife went right through the bumper making it faily easy. i also noticed that it is easier to cut the little strips of plastic along the bumper if i grab the plastic piece that's being removed and firmly lift it at an angle while i run the knife under it. i can honestly say that the cuts on my bumper came out pretty good and actually looks like the platics piece were never there! i know it sounds weird but it really works. maybe its just that the knives we have at our home are some kind of specialty ones from south america (argentina or brazil, i forget) and you know how the culture is over there w/ meat and all of that (i.e carne asada, asado a la parilla etc).
