Default I heard a rumor about rods. Can you clear it up?

I have a D16A6 and I just blew my piston rings. I have decided to go ahead and spend the money to build everything up. I have a machine shop who says he'll have my rods shot-preened and they'll be good for 400 horse. (but he doesn't reccomend using them there). I heard that there are some integra rods, which will fit onto my crank, andwork properly, but they are bigger around. Is this true?

Do it the right way and get Pauters, Crowers or Manleys. Do it right the first time and you'll save yourself alot of trouble later down the line

it depends what your goals are, what will your setup be? do you think you can hit 400 with the d? or even 300? i am shooting for 250 and that seems like a really good number. there are alot of limiting factor when it comes to final output.

if you are upgrading rods, get eagles as a minimum, if you are going ***** out and will actually contend with the 400 hp mark get crowers or soem of the suggested above.

eagle can be had for under 400.

Throw the stock rods as far away from your engine as possible. Spend the most amount of money you can afford and buy the best rods that that amount of money can buy.

I agree, get a set of eagles, you'll be more than happy. I know a guy that bent a D16A6 rod on 20psi.

no, don't throw them, give me one! I blew my D15 and I only kept the bad rod and people keep asking me what a good one looks like! But definatly, get some good ones, maybe even the B16/supra combo, just not the stock ones!

stock D rods will start to bend like pasta noodles @ 250+ level.

you CAN use B16 rods but they require some machining on either the wrist pin or the big end. it can be done at a machine shop for cheap.

these rods can hold 350+ but anything over that is pushing it HARD.

If youre even going to take the motor apart & build it at least put B series rods in there. The D rod is a JOKE!

Right the whole reason I brought up this topic was to ask about what honda rods to use. I talked with the guy at my machine shop here in columbus. He has built a few D16A6's for some SECA guys, so he knows what he's talking about. I am looking for something to run me around 12PSI. With the Z6 head that should run me to about 250-270 on paper. I'll be runing ROSS forged pistons. With lower comp. and a thicker head gasket. I talked with the guy, and he said that this setup will be good. ARP rod studs, and maybe head studs. I have the 450cc Eclispe Gen 1 injectors in the car now. I don't have the money to throw down big on pistons and rods. So shot- preened rods are my next step. What do you think? Does anyone know what stock rods are best to use, and if I go with B-series rods, which ones, and where is some information on what needs to be modded on them?

well after shot peening and maching LS rods, you will have spent the same as Eagles.

if yoiu are dead set on using honda factory rods, use the LS rods since you already have d16 pistons. I have a similar set up.

LS rods SRP 9:1 ten over pistons, i plan on 12psi and around 230-250hp.

you can see the difference here.
