"I have seen the light!": D-Rob's Turbo K20-EK Project
For those of you who aren't familiar with who I am, my name is Derek Robinson.
I run a shop in Carlisle, PA called "Innovative MotorWorks" with the help of John Kerr (93turbo16), specializing in Honda/Acura engine building/dyno tuning/etc...
For the longest time, I was a big naturally aspirated guy. That is, until John and I ended up tuning high-HP turbocharged Honda's every day when we got our DynaPack. Seeing multiple 400+whp setups come and go like normal traffic daily really got me thinking...
Then came fall 2008. I stumbled upon a helluva' deal on a Jackson Racing supercharger, and had to ****** it up (labor in trade for parts is always cool!), so thus began my first personal venture into positive pressure on my own vehicle.
Here's how that has progressed:
And the power...
Now, considering I came from a sub-200whp B-Series background, the jump to a supercharged K20 was a pretty healthy increase, and satisfied me for the winter.
For some, a 300+whp, K-Series daily driver that runs low-12's would be enough. And don't get me wrong, it's great fun!
...But, like a typical human male, I want more. (Because let's face it, there are some things in life you can never have enough of... Money... Time... Power... Wome-...I mean, uhhh...)
Then the first part of my new project fell into my hands...
It came in the form of a Full-Race top-mount, T3-flanged, with a 44mm wastegate flange. It's sheer beauty still leaves me with soft dreams of robitcally-welded steel tubes dancing in my head...
I told myself at that point, "This is going to be a slow project. No hurry. When I get it done, it gets done. No big deal."
Then more deals popped themselves up.
A picked up this fine example of a Precision intercooler from a member here on Honda-Tech next...
And most-recently, I found this piece for a lovely deal as well from another user.
T3/T67 H.O., .82 exhaust side.
The goals for this project stand around 400-450whp, with some methanol injection (leftover from the supercharger project), which seems to be a walk in the park, judging by the last couple similar setups I've tuned recently. Stock K20's over 400whp FTW!
For those interested in what the car looks like, here are some shots of my hoopty.
I'll be updating this thread periodically throughout the process. Next purchases are Tial 44mm wastegate and 50mm BOV, then after that, I'm ready to pull this blower off, and get down to work making some pipes!
Thanks for the interest.

Very nice, in for the results..... It seems the 67ho is becoming the most popular turbo in the Tri-State Area.
I know John I have a Tial 44mm FS if you are interested, pm me.

UPDATE:
Made steps towards the new goal this past Sunday (being my only day off, and what do ya' know, I spent it at work anyway *facepalm*).
Who knew it was so easy to lose 110whp?
Went from 316whp/213wtq back to 211whp/165wtq.
What fun.
Also, TiAL 44mm WG and new "Q" BOV were both ordered from Spoolin Performance.

Pulled the blower off already because my buyer (who paid for it nearly in full already) wanted it installed on his car soon. I don't mind driving the car around NA for a month or two while I finish my parts stockpile.
It is, though, a HUGE change in driving. I don't know how I thought the 200whp K20 was fast back when I installed it. LOL
