Default I have an odd question... turbo guru's?

how much more cfm will a t66 flow than a t04?

Curious how much *more* hp I'd get from the T66 than if I went with a T04?

I realize it has to do with the setup, but lets just be vague and say: H22A1, 9:1CR, and the appropriate fuel for each turbo. (Standalone of some sort.)

I'm guessing that people would like the know the specs of both turbos also...they are a million different wheels and trims for turbos

A t66 is too big for a prelude. Thats crazy talk. You'd have so much lag, if it would even fully spool up at all.

There's no way it would fit. I'm installing my t3/t4b and I doubt a straight t4 would fit, the compressor is very close to the front motor mount bracket.

I'm not very sure of this but I will throw it out there.

You might just be able to slip by with a T-60. But spool up would also be a little bit of a problem.....

I would recommend going with a smaller(but by no means is it really that small, especially for the application you are talking about) T3 w/ a .60 housing, or the T3/T4 hybrid.

thats not correct... i have seen a t66 mounted in a civic with a gsr motor in it... street car... so it is possible... and yes u can get it too spool... a little help would be nicer though... u could mount that button on ur steering wheel as for hp... i have seen a to4 to 650hp... t66 can make much, much more

Exactly. don't tell me it "can't fit." I can fit anything on anything, I'm asking if it would give me the power I want. And why would I want a measly little T3/T4? It may be good enough for Karl and most of you guys, but I'm aiming for 11's on street tires here.

Anyway, thanks to those who answered my question. I'm guessing T04 it is... for now.

My trim will most likely depend on what "accessories" I'll be running. That will be decided at a later date. I'll more than likely choose something with a decent spool up time since I'll probably be running a large ic. However, I've considered a small shot to help me off the line and then I'd run a larger size, but... who's gonna juice everytime to leave a stop light? lol

hey TOM,

even though you posted this a couple of days ago, you said that was on a civic/GSR hybrid right? I think 1fast broken Lude was talking about a T66 into a a Lude.

I think I've heard of several Lude owners talking about little clearance between an installed turbo and I think it was the motor mount bracket, just like DeeJay is talking about. I have heard of 5G Lude/ FMAX (T4/T3) kit owners. but I dont know if this is true of 4G or other kit makers.

EDIT: I've also heard of FMAX/5G Lude owners having to bend the motor mount bracket, so the manifold will seal properly. If the motor mount isn't fixed it causes an exhaust leak, because the manifold isn't sealed.

I think those who use real big turbines really strip their cars of everyting ( all under the hood electronics such as ABS, air con, and maybe even relocate the battery old school VW style - inthe trunk or under a seat...

A t66 would get you 11's for sure...but you'd need at least a 60 shot just to get it to spool before 7k rpm's - if you've got the motor built for it, then do it - I'd love to see that sucka run!!

oh, have no fear about the motor being built for it. lol...

I have no problems pulling out the air saw, plasma cutter, and welder to make something fit. I'm not your normal import guy. lol

just make it high compression like 12:1 u can get that t66 spooled up then
u got a standalone so it will be safe and for like every 1 pound of boost it will be like 22hp u can get over 400hp by boost just 10psi

hey 1 fast broken Lude,

I got a reply from Dr James over on preludeonline.com

I asked if a T66 would fit in a Lude and heres is what he said:

I quote Dr James:

The T66 can fit in the Prelude with a custom manifold. Forget about it fitting in the normal T3/T4 spot in front of the engine. About 2 years ago, my friend and I put a T66 in my Prelude with a custom manifold that I had made. I basically moved the battery to the trunk, and made an equal length manifold that set the turbo flange where the battery used to sit. The trubo was mounted in the battery spot with a brace from the turbo to the battery tray mount. I also braced the manifold to the tranny bell housing. Then ran the DP from the turbo, back infront of the engine, and under the oil pan. It work very well, but it was a drag only application. It had way too much lag for the street. but when it reached max boost at about 4900-5100 rpm, that thing would scream. I wanted to try the same manifold design, but with a straight T4. This might be a little more streetable. Especially with higher compression pistons and lower boost.

if all you want is 11's with a turbo h22 you don't need a T066. you can run 9's using an XS T04X. T066's are for big motors like GN's and V8's. You don't need one that big to accomplish 11's, 11's are easy.
