if you don't have the money or can't work with downtime to fix things that break then don't turbo.
If you you do have the money, you can afford a decent fuel setup and some tuning time. Just play it conservative and you'll be alright, or you could get a thick headgasket to drop the compressoin.

Just tune it really well, and make sure you have the fuel to conpinstae for the extra air coming through and everything should be alright.

I've seen some great dyno charts of turbo charged high compression motors. If tuned rite they produce some nice numbers. Just don't skimp on the fuel and spark, get it tuned properly (stand-alone) and you'll be more then happy..

i say "kaboom" unless you have a really good tuner and something like hondata to precisely run your engine.
if u can afford race gas to run daily then go for it. if not... my opinion is 10:1 cr max on a daily driven car.

You can get a headgasket to lower your cmpression or take the advice of the other members and tune properly with a stand-alone. Im guessing though if you dont have time or money to fool with pistons that the standalone and tuning isnt really in your favor

go for it, i would run an EMS like the elctromotive units though, only becuase they will be ale to deliver the spark you will need.

I think if you plan on running this on the street you'd be mental to try. I have yet to see any Standalone that does a good job of adjusting for humidity and temperature changes well. Even on race gas, that thing would be so damm picky about its fuel and timing needs that it'd be more trouble than its worth. But what the F*** do I know, I run 7.8:1 compression and still see lots of detonation from time to time.

I think you better have damn good fuel management, tuning, and some really good gas.

dont do it if you:
1) dont have money for spare parts or rebuild
2) dont have a spare car
many things could go wrong even if tuning is top notch.
ex. bad tank of gas.
11.5 CR is really high IMO but many will also say that it can be done. yes it can be done, but do you really want to worry all the time thinking that the motor can blow on your next tank of gas.
i was in this situation(i had about 11.3 CR i believe) and i just decided to go ahead and get new piston, rods.
i guess if you really want to turbo that motor with that CR, then go for it until it blows, but i woulnt.
or like others have said, at least drop CR with thicker HG , although using a HG is not nearly as good as throwing in some lower CR pistons.

I would listen to colin, U can make good power on low boost. Just have someone tune it before u start boosting.

Exactly, low boost (5-6psi) will yield some nice power.... if you can run 10.5:1 cp and 10psi on pump gas, you sure as hell can run 11.5:1 cp with 5psi on pump gas (92+) tuned
