How would you cut your bumper out for the IC??
I could make this a poll, but im too lazy to set all that **** up.
Im running the Full-Race IC setup. For those who arent familiar with it, the compressor is ran into the back of the endtank and inturn the IC isnt able to be centered on the car. This doesnt bother me at all........who the fawk cares abour simple **** lining up and a crazy hp street car---no race car is symetrical, right?
Anyways. I want to cut a hole in the bumper above the stock grill cutout.....kinda like one of those diffusers that go in the rear bumper, but up front. I cant decide if i should make it the same length as the core or to the end of the endtanks. Thats not really a big deal actually.....do I center the slot so on the drivers side you see past the end tank and see the rad support behind it, or do I cutout the length of the IC and make the slot off centered like the IC is?
Damn, sorry for a confusing post. Im just trying to get some ideas before i put a hole saw and a jig saw to the bumper..........not like the paint isnt spiderwebbed as it is, I dont care about hacking it up.

well, i'd use a dremel its easier to use in those hard to reach areas. I'd try to center the intercooler in the mouth as much as possible, so there is cutting on the bumper, if the IC pipes are the problem, just cut/weld till you see it fit. i kno its a lil hassle but thats what i did and i had less to cut.

Sorry, I forgot to add that.

Hehe. Sooooooo, you gonna chime in and share a thought or 2?

Bspec18...........your missing my question. Everything is mounted and all that, and im not asking what to cut with--dremel is too high speed anyways. Im just looking for your guys ideas on how it'll look, well, cosmetically----which goes against what I said in my original post
Here is a pic of the car w/o bumper to give an idea how its mounted off-center.

my bad, i guess i read to much into ur title. that IC looks nice! but you would have to hack up ur front bumper alot. i'd suggest getting a simple fiberglass (aftermarket) bumper, i've seen alot of people get alot of room for their IC and not have to cut much.... just my .02cents

Damn, I cant photochop to save my life. I guess its hard to explain without it.
Yes, I do want to cut the bumper. But I dont know if I want to make the cut off-center along with the intercooler, or make the cut centered and then people will notice just how off center the IC is. Im not gonna cut up from the grill and make a huge hole like Jinx's hatch, but im gonna only cutout the flat part of the bumper and make another hole.....picture an EK's top grill directly over the bottom grill. Follow me here?
Screw it, Im gonna cut it today and I'll post some pics in a bit...........guess i'll figure it out then while the power tools are in my hand, lol.

Maybe cut from the end of the core on the right side and go to whereever its still symmetrical, know what i mean? you wont cut all the way to the endtank on the left side but it will be symmetrical and you wont see the endtanks.

Check out the two slits made in the bumper to allow better air flow in the EVO bumper...maybe that'll be slighly more subtle then to cut a huge hole out of your bumper.....like in the image posted above.....not knocking it...but subtle and unnoticeable modifications is what i like...but that's because i drive on the street.....I think that's what your were implying anyways

Yeah, I havent purchased the new 2.5" aluminum IC piping yet...its still the old 2.25" mild steel crap thats on there. The bov doesnt have a vacuum line running to it and its there just to plug the hole for now.
Im feelin what Blusi2K is saying, but cutting it straight up will look weird too. Hmm.......now that my AEM wideband just came in today I think Im gonna hook that up instead of cutting the bumper---that'll be another days project.

My back-door intercooler set-up was symetrical. The Full-Race manifold sets the intercooler of to the side, huh? Interesting...Then again it would depend on the size of the core also.

20x11x3. Im guessing the end tanks are another 3 inches each side....I never measured them.
Well I cut it out, but I left my camera at the shop. It looks pretty good I guess. I centered the hole and made it even with the drivers side core/endtank. Hole is 18" wide, so only 2" on the other side of the IC is being covered up. I think efficiency wise it'll still be ok cause there is a gap of may be 4" from the suface of the bumper to the surface of the core......air will find its way to those 2" that appear to be covered up by the bumper if your looking straight at the carfrom a distance.
I'll get pics up tomorrow hopefully.
