How well is a welded cast manifold going to hold up
I have a drag manifold when I got it was cracked and welded. For the last week my car has been boosting slower then it used to after looking at my manifold I see that it has cracked right by the old weld now I don’t know if they got it welded right the first time so I'm going to take if off and get it welded for $30.
I know I have hard of people getting the cast manifold rewelded I just wont to know if they held up or if they cracked agan. I will post pics of it latter tonight.

They can hold up fine, but making sure you use the right wire/rod for the weld is imperitive.
You might want to prep it yourself before you take it to get welded.
ie: drill small holes at the end of each crack, and grind a small V into the crack so
the weld had decent penetration.

dont forget to make sure they use a NICKEL filler and pre-heat the unit with a rosebud/torch before welding it... otherwise it will crack again...

Welded cast mani's typically last about a year before you see problems... not bad for a $30 investment.

I have an adapter welded onto a Greddy manifold and it's lasted well over a year. absolutely no sine of failure and it's load-bearing. Guess it was a good shop?
