how wastegates actually work....? supercharger wastegated??
a wastegate has to regulate exhaust pressures to controll intake charge pressures right...so if you have a 15psi spring in your wastegate, your air intake charge will remain at 15psi but what is your exhaust pressure?
i am trying to mate a wastegate to the intake side of a supercharged system so when i overdrive it to make 20psi @ idle and like 100psi @ redline, the wastegate will keep the pressure down to 20psi.

ok first off you supercharger if you have one, doesn't regulate boost the same as a turbo, turbo's spool off exhaust gases.. superchargers run off a belt connected to your crank pulley.. there are boost controllers for a supercharger, but you can not adapt a wastegate from a turbo to regulate you superchargers boost..
90% of the time super chargers run at 100% anyway, its dependant on pulley size..
someone correct me if i'm wrong..

search for wastegate then search for supercharger. You need to understand how this stuff works better before you try and re-invent the whole thing. You are missing a few fundamental points.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=822385 reminds me of todays topic but with more blow off valves and less boost.

ok well i understand the idea...
not sure if thats the best way to acheive it..
but hks makes a "pop off valve" not blow off, not wastegate
pop off
it is used to regulate boost on the intake pipe, in case your wastegate gets stuck, or something else causes you to overboost it will purge the boost at a certain PSI so it doesnt reach the motor and blow it up..
i beleive they are at 14psi though....but it might get you started on your idea

its basically a blow off valve but you can hook it up to do what i said..

If I'm understanding this right, this guy doesn't want to regulate boost with a wastegate, rather he wants to regulate exhaust pressure.
What are you trying to achieve by this?

i beleive he just used that statement to try and see if a wastegate has to regulate a given amount of exhaust pressure to regulate the intake pressure...
i dont think hes trying to regulate the exhaust pressure

This has been talked about before, some drag cars use it.
Insted of putting the wastegate on the mani, you put the wg on the intake, then when X amount of pressure it opens. eliminates spool time between gear shift.
So what you want is to put a pully on the car that makes the SC have example 10 psi at idle and 100 psi at redline and then use the wg to bleed the pressure above lets say 15 psi, and therefore have 15 psi from 1500 rpm and up. Right?
This can be done BUT this also means that the intake charge will be hot as hell, cause compressed air get hot and when you compress it to 100psi your motor will melt of heat alone. In theory it can be done but you will have a bunch of new problems with the heat.
Hope this helps

PH_B16-VTi and pornstarSR hit it on the head!!
maby i can overcome this heat problem somehow...expensive experiment if i dont work, but there must be a way to do this and keep it streetable

Doesn't the pressure stay constant anyways with a positive displacement supercharger? Are you planning on using a centrifugal supercharger?

You'll probably end up using more power to compress the air and heat it and decompress it and cool it and whatnot then you'll actually gain....but on the bright side the supercharger will probably get destroyed before any goals are realized, so most of the problems will be solved right there....
