Default How to take turbine housing off a t3?

Can any of you tell me how or show me a write up how you take a turbine housing off a t3 turbocharger? Is there more involved then just loosening the six some odd bolts on the midsection side? Thanks.

BFH (tm) and flame wrench as needed.

BFH = Big ******* Hammer.

I need a flame wrench? Bah, how much...and describe the procedure please. I mean, after loosening the bolts on the backside you just heat it up and hit it untill it falls off? Is that it?

Do not use a hammer or torch! Just remove the six bolts and two brackets and lift straight up so you don't damage the blades.

HAHA, ya just 'lift straight up'.

seriously though... bfh, torch and a vice = success

Use your head as to where to hit it. You don't want to crack the thin parts and make sure you don't overheat the center part and burn up the seals since there is no oil flow to cool it like when it on the car.

Also, there is no need to get the BFH (tm), a generic bfh works fine, some people are just ballers.

I will vouch for the BFH, unless its a brand new turbo, i tried rotating my turbo without a torch and that **** wasnt happening!

I've heard of people putting a rod or piping in the inlet of the exhaust housing and prying/hammering it off that way. That's the method ill be using next. Otherwise, if you haven't clocked it yet....unbolt all the bolts and the bolts will eventually back the housing off.

BTW - where does one get those little brackets from? I am converting my T3 from internal to external wastegate and need an additional bracket....
