Disconnect the actuator from the wastegate flapper.

Open as in take it off, or open as in prevent boost? Theres a good chance even an open flapper on an internal gate (particularly with a small turbo) will not prevent at least some boost. Best thing is to 'open it' as well as put on a cheap rubber coupler somewhere in lines and put a large slice through it. That combo will prevent all but 1-2 psi of boost, which the stock ecu can deal with to an extent, and still be safe w/o any tuning.

As how to do this - take the wastegate actuator (the canister on a metal stock, think lollypop) and disconnect the end of the stick from the lever sticking out of the wastegate housing.

so if a leak in intercooler piping makes no boost. . if i dont want any boost temporarily. . could i just disconnect the piping from the compressor. . .? instead of ruining a coupler? couldnt i just take a coupler off?

Dont disconnect your compressor from the intake manifold. You run a high risk of damaging your turbo.

The actuator arm should be threaded you have to disconnect it from the flapper, which what the arm rotates when it slides back and forth.

As stated, disconnecting the compressor is bad, you could overspin the turbo. The reason I mention making it leak is so there is some load on the compressor.

Adding both a leak and open actuator combined with lighter driving will prevent boost.
