Re: how much to push on stock motor with just aftermarket rods rods and pistons (urbansi)
The limiting factor on that setup is the 18g. You need a better turbo along with a nice free flowing exhaust and you should be good for 400whp or more because then it's your sleeves that are next. don't forget a 3 bar map sensor . Daily driven I'd stick with 300whp or 350 but get an MBC or EBC to control that on the Weekends for more fun and less abuse everyday

Anything over 17 lbs or so on that turbo is a waste of time. Get rid of the cast elbow, port the wastegate hole, get a good actuator, get a 2.75 or 3 inch down pipe and exhaust and you are good to go for 300+ whp. Seems like alot of work to get the 18G to work doesn't it? But the instant response and spool is well worth it

yeah i'm about in the same boat as you. i'm deciding whether to keep my 18g and do a little work, get a new manifold, adaptor plate, external gate, and a 3 inch downpipe. or just sell it all and buy a sc34, new manifold, downpipe and external wastegate, and then just call it a day. i might just end up doing that. but if i do run the 18g i think 17psi is in my calling.
