How much power? built b16
Just finishing up my turbo build this week and was wondering roughly what number I can expect to make.
My setup is as follows:
B16a full crower s2 cams/springs/retainters. skunk 2 intake manifold.
Made 170whp before boost.
Turbo setup is as follows.
Garrett t304e 50 trim .53 ar
21/4" intercooler piping
26/6/2" intercooler
2.5" exhaust all the way back
precision 580cc injectors
hks ssqv
cheap wastegate
turbosmart manual boost controller ( is the wastegate still risky seeing as this will actuate it?)
thanks in advance for any input. my goal is roughly 300hp at 10 pounds on a stock map sensor. But i have heard stock b16s making low 300s and was wondering if I can make a little more out of the headowkr.

Re: How much power? built b16
you definately will see 300+WHP out of that Longblock at 10psi..
1st> I would get a 3 inch all they way back.. that 2.5 will do but You will see a gain out of 3inch..
2nd> becareful with that "cheap wastegate" and the boost controller, My tuner was tuning my car and it was building boost so damn fast for a stock motor, he looked down at my boost gauge and it read 20psi lol we were only tuning for 10psi lol and the car made 367whp on a stock B18c1 @20psi, we obviously detuned it..and i made 310whp @10psi on a stock GSR... same turbo as yours but a 57trim and a .63ar, BTW i had a cheap wastegate too lol.. goodluck man..

lmao at your avatar 94gsr.
ditch the 2.5" and go for 3"
you'll probably have to turn the boost up to make power out of the 50 trim
with the 50 trim and 2.25" piping, you'll have hardly any lag.

Re: How much power? built b16
thanks for the input guys im definitely excited to finish this. I don't think I want to drive around on any more than 8pounds daily but interested to see what I can put down during the dyno tune. I forgot to mention I have low comp pistons and a thicker hg. w/ arp studs. Can I safely push as much boost as my stock map lets me?

Re: How much power? built b16
You'll probably be close to your goal of 300whp on the stock map sensor. If i can give you one HUGE piece of advice, get an aftermarket map sensor. It will make things easier in the future. If you ever want to retune at a higher boost level (if you build the engine or whatever), you have to totally start over on the tune. Its worth the extra $80 to get a GM 3bar and forget about it. Also, if you don't already have the exhaust, i would upgrade to a 3" now. IC piping as well...go 2.5" if you dont already have it
