Re: (TDogg Teg)
I agree, that a fuel pump is not something to cheap out on, BUT.........
I've landed in this situation before with my DelSol. I finished my setup, and after just focusing on the front end and the parts needed...I left the backend for last. Well, right at the end...I ran out of budget, bills stacked up, and my income ceased, leaving me with no fuel pump.
Well, with a GT3071R/LS-vtec, I broke the motor in on 7psi. I maxed the 440's nearing redline, which was due to a creep to 10psi. Air/fuels were maintained though, and maxed 440's will break the 300whp barrier. A stock pump will certainly fuel 300whp though, there's not a question in my mind.
If your truly on a budget, while I won't condone skipping out on the pump....IF it happens, then do a re-wire to the stock pump. Get some larger gauge power wire to it and you will increase it's output to gain yourself a margin of safety.
To the guy talking about part throttle driveability issues, unless that's a really big injector causing pressure drop then it's the tune, not the fuel pump. Part throttle driving was absolutely perfect during my break-in. I never had any issues whatsoever, and got high 20's mpg around town.
I'm also gonna plug xenocron here too cause I just like the dude....he has some fuel pumps on his site that are 255's and are like 78.00 shipped. I just ordered 3 of them.

Re: (RC000E)
good point about re-wiring your stock fuel pump. i can give you alot of head room, power-wise. alot of high-horse turbo cars run in tank walboros re-wired, and make great power

i ran my stock pump at 215whp for about 2 years without any problems. I wouldnt suggest running a stock pump past 250whp for very long

i doubt that , and if you try and run 300whp with a stock fuel pump [you're not doing the right thing]

You guys do realize that different model Honda/Acuras had different fuel pumps, correct? Cars with B-series engines had enough pump for around 300whp. Cars with D-series had enough pump for about 250whp. If you have moderate goals, you can get away with OEM pumps. Walbro pumps aren't always the perfect solution. They are louder and often have more problems than OEM pumps once you start running low on gas. If I'm only going to look for around 200whp in a Civic daily driver I'd stick with an OEM pump and at most upgrade to a GSR pump for a little room. Being able to crank on my car with 1/8th of a tank of gas on the first time is worth it. Better than sitting in the parking lot pumping the gas pedal praying your car will start while you have enough gas to get you 50 miles.

there is a big difference between 200whp and 300whp... i've NEVER had ANY problems what so ever with my walbro... ya it might be a little loud, but you can't hear it over the open downpipe... NEVER had a problem with cranking it over though... and if your boosted, you shouldn't EVER be driving around with 1/8th of a tank...

1) He never stated his goals. What are you talking about a big difference between 200whp and 300whp? I'm just saying your average daily driver can get away with a B-series OEM fuel pump with at most upgraded wiring. Also they can be found for basically free because everyone thinks it's worth spending $100 on a new fuel pump. The Walbro pump isn't a perfect pump. Honda's OEM reliability and various other characteristics make me try to keep it in my car as long as it is supplying enough fuel for the job,
2) Big surprise you can't hear a fuel pump over an open downpipe. Congrats on being stupid.
3) You shouldn't be doing rips on a 1/8 of a tank. You can drive on an 1/8 of a tank though. Sometimes you don't realize how little gas you have and don't have the time to spend at the pump filling up. I have this thing called a vac/boost gauge. It lets me know when I'm going to go into boost. I use my right foot to keep myself from going into boost by applying less pressure to the gas pedal. I know it's a difficult concept, but one day you'll get it.
