how much difference is there in a gt3540r,gt3040r,and the BW s256
as far as these 2 turbos how much more power is the 35r capable of than the 3040r
one site it said 50 whp difference in the 2 gt turbos and i've seen a lot of 35r setups and dynos but i only remember seeing one or two gt3040 seno'stups and
i don't recall seeing any s256 on the same type of setup as either of the 2 garrett turbos

well the GT3040R aka GT3082R has a larger compressor wheel than the normal GT3076R, 76mm vs 82mm. This is to allow for more flow to make more power while attempting to retain similar spool up as the GT3076R however most people i know at least with evo's just prefer to step right up to a 35r. The GT3582R also uses the 82mm compressor wheel but uses a larger turbine wheel so in theory should have a tad more lag and make a tad more power. I would just personally step up to a 35R, i don't understand why garrett made the GT3082r, i also recall it struggles to make 600whp while the 3582r makes 600easily and can make a bit more.

I thought you researched this already from what was discussed over 2 months ago? You need to start writing this down, Spoolin'. You're only going to get reviews based upon the use of a highly VE Honda engine. VERY different from your VW application that likes a lot more backpressure and different engine demand flow characteristics.
I'm not trying to start any crap, but you've done this.. I know you've done this already. (No pun intended ) you keep on spinnin' your wheels again.

I guess i'm unfamiliar with your situation, setup and goals. If you could elaborate more on that, we could probably help you sort out which of those turbos would work best for you.

well i found out that im going to be getting more money in my settlement than i origianally thought
if someone made a decent divided t3 housing i would try a 35r with a divided t3
and with me getting more money im going to be able to build the head and by doing that it will add 1200-1500 more rpms to work with
thats why im asking again because my situation has changed
schister its a 1.8 20V VW motor stock head 7200 rev limit with the headwork i plan to do once i get my settlement ill be able to rev to about 9k rpms but that would just be for RARE occasions but with the headwork and cams i could do 8500 rpms everyday if i wanted to
so with adding 1500 more rpms that is kind of changing my turbo choices
also they make a t3gt40, could you get a divided t4gt40 if so i could get spool like the gt35r and save some money........i plan to put a minimum of 2k in the head
would you rather have the extra rpms from the headwork or my other option was to bore and stroke to 2.0 or 2.2 and that would have been 1800 and 2700 respectively and no one really knows how high you can rev the 2.2 because it has a 100mm stroke

You still need to divulge more info about your power goals and actual uses for the car. That info will give us more insight about the turbo that best fits your needs. Also, TheShodan is your BEST reference in this situation. Give him whatever info he asks for and he'll give you a stellar suggestion. I've used turbos from him and have nothing but great things to say
Also, there is no replacement for displacement...the headwork will help, but a larger bore and especially a longer stroke will help. If you can spool the turbo up noticeably faster, it will allow you to make more power lower in the powerband without needing to rev higher.
