For that pricerange there are a couple great ones:
PLX M300, and Innovative LM-1.
The Innovate LC-1 is another great budget choice, 200 shipped I think.....great if you just need to tune via a laptop and not have a gauge....or you can buy a gauge later.

You can build your own for a little over $200, but you better know electronics like the back of your hand. Also the problem with those sensors is they are VERY expensive. The PLX is probably your best bet...it's fairly cheap and the sensor is even cheaper (about $38).....gotta pay to play

I don't agree. You need some display other than your laptop to verify that your laptop is getting the correct AFR from the ECU. I would go with the PLX M300 first and then the LC-1 with gauge second. Both have nice linear voltages so can easily be put into any datalogging software you choose.

same, i built my DIY WB02 2E0 (dual display, built in datalogging, wideband and narrow band output, programable output etc..) for about $450cdn which works out to about $200usd hahaha
it also uses the cheap VW o2 sensor

i HIGHLY AGREE with this statement. biggest problem with the LC-1 you dont know what the gauge is actually reading and when it gets to the ecu. often times it reads .3-.7 diffrent AFR.

VW wideband? You mean the 5wire VW(bosch) sensor? Its 30-40bucks online.
Also, to use that display you either need an LM-1 or a LC-1 unit to control the O2 sensor.

Yup, unless you know for sure that your voltage to AFR numbers are correct it's risky running a WB setup that doesn't have a guage. I have an LM1 and the Controller is about the size of a Gameboy and it has a AFR/lambda display on the front. Whenever I i first hooked up my LM1 I used the display to check and make sure the conversion factors I put in Crome were correct. If my AFR numbers dont match the controller, then I know something is wrong with my conversion numbers.

Re: (B6tPoweredMx3)
You can hook the LC-1 straight up to your laptop and to your ECU if you really want to check accurately. It has a few different outputs.
