How many of you tuned your own setup?
How many of you guys tuned your own setup? What software did you use? Is there a specific wideband that you guys like to use? What were your outcomes? I am putting the final touches on my ls-turbo and come spring I will either be sending it out for a dyno tune, having my buddy tune it, or I will tune it myself. It will cost me an entire day and several hundred dollars if I send it out to get it tuned, and I will have to take it back to the shop I got it tuned at every time I make any further setup changes. The plus side is I will have a dyno proven tune. If I have my buddy tune it I will not have to pay the big bucks but I will still have to rely on someone else for further changes and will only have a street tune. If I tune it myself I will have the ability to touch up the tuning whenever needed, but I will still be left with a street tune. Im just looking to see what youy guys did. Before I put the car up for the winter I chipped my ecm using Moates.com kit. I also purchased the Moates Burn1 chip burner. I used my buddys wideband to do a very rough tune, the weather turned before i could do a final tune. I used Uberdata. What would you guys do?

Sub 250whp i tune myself with a LM1 wideband,Crome or Turbo Edit depending or car and a laptop. For big power get a dyno in the least and a good tuner is going to be worthwile.Street tuning a big hp car would be dangerous and I dont trust my tuning skills or lack there of especially for timing.A set of DET cans is beneficial as well. There are some good write ups on here about it.

Re: (Topdawgg)
I've tuned mine myself. Built it three years ago and used Hondata S200 & Innovative LM1. Run up to 18psi or so on my 84.5mm B18C. Running on E85 Ethanol right now.

S300
PLX
Built 2.0L GSR/ITR
GT30R, 22psi
Street tuned myself. Never dynoed, but looking at my trap speeds, approximately 450-475whp. Never got to race when it was at 30psi. Also street tuned 6 other turbo hondas, 2 NA hondas, and 2 talons. I use Crome for everyone else, and TunerPro for DSM's

When logging with chrome, uberdata, turboedit, ect... how do you guys setup your dataloging? I assume that you tune in open loop, while running the wideband output signal to the o2 input on the ecm, then select the appropriate wideband option in the datalogging menu. Is this correct? Since I am using Uberdata will this method work along with the PLX-M300?

I love help self tuners so here goes...
Why not have the best of both worlds? There are lots of tuners out there that can not only give you a nasty dyno tune, but would also be willing to give you a quick rundown of what they are actually doing so that if you wanted to mess with it in the future and change parameters down the road you could feel comfortable doing it.
You have one of the most knowledgeable & helpful, DIY promoting tuners in your state as well. Look up Blundar on here if interested

Re: How many of you tuned your own setup? (xenocron)
Just purchased a PLX-M300 from dunkd. Now I only need to get the hulog from Moates and install them both. I will be ready to start tuning. If I run into any issues I will get help. Xenocron is right, there are soo many accomplished tuners out there that are more than willing to help out. Ill give it a swing come spring, worst comes to worst i pay for a tune. Either way I need the wideband and datalogging setup so no money will be wasted if I cant tune it myself.
