How many of you have your turbo'ed insured?
I'm looking for a new insurance company that would insure my car, but look like most companies don't want to insure cars with performance mods (including exhausts ). If you have yours insured what company are you insured with?
TIA

the whole point of buying a honda/acura is to make a slow car fast while paying for slow car insurance
Till it gets stolen or totaled then you're out the all the $$$$ you put in.

I use progressive. Depending on how much money you invest in your car is how much your premium will go up. I never told them what parts I added to my car, just that the total value of the car has increased. For example, say your car cost you 10k and you put 20k worth of mods into the car. Your insurance may cover up to 5k of those mods under you policy. There for 15k of those mods aren't. What you have to do is declare a higher value for your car. So instead of your cars value being the 10k you paid for it, the value will raise by the amount of mods that you put into it. So your cars value will now be 30k. Your premium will raise however. Never tell them the mods that you've done untill you need to claim them due to an accident or theft.

I use progressive right now and it just seem like the rate goes up like 250 bucks every 6 months. What sucks is that I have a clean record, I'm over 25yr., and my teg is not my daily driver. I have the custom parts covered, but when I went shopping for other companies they asked what custom parts I wanted covered. It looking like I might have to stay with Progressive.

I got my policy canceled by doing that. I gave them copies of all the recepts and they took pics of the car. They ended up dropping me because of the modifications. I have a perfect driving record and even a CDL so i cant drive like a maniac. The companies name wad Erie Insurance. Luckily 2 weeks after i got dropped i was getting married so i went onto my wifes insurance.

Unfortunately neither do I, i think it's just a way for the insurance company to scam us. I have full coverage, but could not afford to raise the declared value of my car. I'm sorry, but it doesn't matter where you park it. I park my car right infront of my apartment with my window open. People still find ways to break in, infact, my car was almost completely stripped tuesday night. You can read about it in kills. Some of us pay that premium because we can't afford to replace the motor or other pieces if the car is completely stripped. I know if it happens, i'll get the money for the car and some parts, but i will never beable to recover the looses.

Now, i'm really getting pissed ! I just got a quote the was $500 cheaper than progressive, after spending 15mins on the phone with them, then when it came to finalizing the deal they said that they won't insure the car because of the after market turbo. Then I asked the guy why? He then said cuz there's a chance of blowing up the motor. Then I asked the jackhole what does blowing up the motor have to do with an accident or theft? This sucks.
It seems like if you want to go turbo, the only way to get it insured is to buy one that is factory installed. Btw, does anyone know how much it cost to insure a TT Supra?

I have ALLSTATE. My car is insured for $26 g's. I submitted reciepts and picture to my agent. It was his opinion I do so. I also had my car looked at by a specialist who came up with the price. Now I am paying for a car that cost $30g's. I also suspend the insurance for the winter and it is covered as long as I don't drive it.

Look at it this way. Say your car is worth 10k. If you total it, you might get 5k. You want to pay extra for say another 10k in parts? How much do you think you'll get back from those?
I ****** hate insurance companies...I used to work for Allstate (nt server support, not insurance work) so I saw from the inside how they work people over. Must be great, being a scam artist and having the government force people to give you money but never regulating or overseeing what you give back in times of need.

I've got "Specialty Auto" insurance from Metropolitan, pretty $$$ though. Pemco dropped me because of my modifications after I went in to see a claims adjuster after my car got smacked by another guy. Metropolitan allows you to cover parts, they don't even really ask for very detailed info.
