How many turbo people run 10+ psi on stock internals?
I recently found out that my boost guage wasnt reading right. Or maybe it was, but here is the situation. I bought a tial wastegate off of a friend. I thought it was a 35mm because I had no previous expierience with external gates coming from a sohc greddy turbo on my b-series. Turns out, the wastegate is a 35/40 hybrid and it had a BIG red spring in it. My friends and I up at the shop almost **** when we found out that i wasnt really boosting 8psi but 11 or more instead. So my car was a demon at a supposed "8" psi, or .56-.58 bar, which the AFC and the boost guage was reading. Well, the car is fine, nothing wrong with it, no oil burning nothing, but I was wondering if anyone else boosts more than 10psi on stock internals.
i've got ARP head studs and a CHM performance block guard and thats it for internals. Stock compression with the stock head gasket.

i run 1 bar daily on a BONE stock LS, never even takin the head off before. i ran it so long that i had a built motor sitting on the floor WAITING to be installed. IT wouldnt go, so i just put my new one in. Now my built motor is giving me trouble

I think just as important as how much boost you're running is what you're using for engine mangement. That said, what are you all using?

Bone stock D16Z I am boosting 11 psi. I would go higher but I am at the map sensor limit. It runs perfect. This is on a tuned hondata.

well since on the suject 10psi daily. How safe is it really, I'm planning turbo but didn't know what would be a safe setting. Also i'd only pull it hard on occasion so not everyday of every minute. Thanks.

It is safe if it is tuned right. I run mine to 7700 rpm all the time without a problem. This is on a big .63 ar turbo.

I don't understand how your gauges were reading lower than what you were really boosting??

I will be running 10psi, on stock b16, w/ proper fuel management....Tuning is the key.

Ok im sure u guys have seen the Rev Hard stage 2 kit right? Im running stock internals think if i just smacked the kit on there ill be alright for a little while ? till Injectors, Je pistons, rods etc etc come??? The kit comes with just about everything..I was just going to get block guard installed with kit...This sound ok to u guys? sound safe?

I have successively ran 22lbs, stock internals, stock sleeves two years ago on race gas. I ran 1.1bar daily on pump gas I was using a .076" thicker headgasket and arp head studs. I was making 420whp at 21~22psi, the engine lasted for the entire time I used it (2-3 months). I had issues with my sleeved block, I ended up putting the same stock block back in again making 350whp on pump gas @11psi now.

An aftermarket sleeve companies sleeves did not seal properly when installed. The coolant seeped into the oil pan.

1.0 bar....inlne pro 2mm hg, arp head studs, stock internal b16, and hondata.
was running a half bar....got boreing, then .7 bar.....still not enough....at 1.0 bar...im satisfied for now.
