Default how to manually retard timing on d16y8

yes i searched, and i didnt come up with much. i have the set-up to run about 10 psi daily, but for now im only running 7psi i want to retard the timing at the distributor but im not sure how.

Rotate it towards the front fo the car.

about how much, and should i do it with the car running, if so , how the hell do i do that thing to "blind" the ecu

You will want to jumper the same connector used to show the engine codes. This will remove any timing advance the ECU is using. Make sure your idle speed is set correctly and that the engine is warm.

You can do this with the car running, however, you should have a timing light instead of guessing.

Yeah what he said. In case you don't know where the service connector is, its right above the ecu. A lime green rubber boot will be holding it. Just pull it out and bridge the two sides with a tool of your choice.

When you set the timing via the distributor, you are setting the base timing value.

As rpms are increased, there is less time to ignite the a/f mix, thus advanced timing is needed. There are other parameters that play into the final timing value, just giving an example of one.
