Re: How long will my turbo motor run? (SOHCsleeper)
relability is relative.
You can build a great bottom end, not tune it properly and ruin it
you can also
boost a stock bottom end, get a good tune, get good numbers and drive for tens of thousands of miles

What he said..
Conservative power levels...and a conservative tune...your motor will run forever
If you're gonna run 12 PSI with a T3/T04 and a 13:1 AFR then don't expect it to last forever

Was on AFC hack, now on uberdata basemap. I've been boosted for about 10k, when I turboed I had 180,000 miles...and its still running great

that question is like asking when are you going to die? No one knows when but you have to take care of your body, feed it the right foods and stay out of trouble. Same applies to your turbo'd car. You have to do regular maintanence like change the oil, feed it good gas and keep the engine healthy.

DO a complete tune-up, change all belts, maybe even rebuild it, gasket kit and bearing kit. Then boost it, dont get all boost crazy, invest in a nice ecu or go uberdata/chrome, find someone that knows what their doing in your area and your set.

Yeah the AFC hack worked well for me, I just jumped to conclusions and ripped everything off and sold it. Looking back, all I needed to do was adjust the timing at the dizzy and invest in some ARP's....I am going to run uberdata this time...I might actually run the hack again though....not sure. I have a basemapped P28, just not sure if I want to tune and burn chips myself or run the hack since I dont plan on going past the map sensor limit
