Default how to judge AR for turbine side??????????

i have posted this before BUT, what factors, numbers, calculations, do you use to judge or go as a guideline to decide the AR for your turbos exhaust turbine.

once again, how do you knwo what AR to pick,

i currently have a low compression B16, and the .63 AR doesnt seem to work well with it, even at high boost levels. so i need some help!

What is the size of your exhaust wheel? What is the size of you DP? Is the DP free flowing or does it have a short bend after the flange? What is your expected power range (4krpm ~redline).

With a AR.63 and stageIII blade coupled to a free flowing 3" DP you shoulde able to boost hard from 4~4.5krpm to redline with ease. What is your cold side?

right now it is a fully built bottom end 8.5:1 comp ratio, i have upgraded valvetrain but it like 2 years old, so 10K+ roms is not where i want to go.

right now i run a 3 inch SS open Downpipe exits with turbo compressor on drivers side.

i have a turbonetics t3t4B super V trim with .63 AR on the Hot side, cold side??????? i dont know.

but o dont make boost till 5200 rps, and shift at 9K boost is at 18psi

people have told me upgrade the compressor and people have told me to downgrade the exhaust turbine to a .48 stage 3

so whats the real answer, i wanna make like 450 to the wheels.

so what specs, AR, compressor wheel, and such should i use?????

thanks in advance

Use a t3/t04e .50 a/r compressor housing, .48 turbine housing with 50 or 57 trim compressor wheel and a stage III turbine wheel. You'll get boost alot sooner.

Hope that helps.

Yes, you will get boost sooner with an AR.48 housing but it will also fall off faster too.

I ran an T4 60trim AR.60 coldside T3 AR.63 stage III hotside on my bone stock B18C at 11psi and it was hitting full boost by 4400rpm. The TO4B coldside is your downfall. Upgrade to at least an AR.50 50 trim E housing on the cold side and you should see some good improvements in the matching.

Is the a street queen or Street/strip warrior? The small hotside housing might be OK on a street queen that does parking lot blips of the throttle but will a source of many headaches at the strip.

thanks for some insight that i might not have been looking at. i had a turbonetics "authorized dealer" build my turbo and he talked me into some **** i really didnt want, so i have notified them and they are trying to help me out.

the car only gets driven like once a week, i have 2 other cars to drive, the civic basically just sits in the garage till saturday and then i drive it.

i would love to make boost any amount quicker than what i already do, 5300 rpms kinda sucks!!!!!!

i wanted someting like the turbo that comes with the full race stage 1 kit, the BIG t3/t4 60-1 with the "S" cover. it has a .70 AR on the cold side and a .63 on the hot

thanks for your help
