How do you guys have your externalwastegate?
I mean the vacume hose do you guys connect it to the vacume or the boost port.
Pictures would help. And why would use one instead of the other.

Re: How do you guys have your externalwastegate? (Therumblingteg)
My boost port is connected to my compressor housing, my vacuum port is conencted to my EBC. If you don't have a boost controller, you leave the vacuum port open and connect the boost port to either manifold pressure, or anywhere between the compressor and the t/b. Pretty much anywhere where it will see boost. Connecting closer to the compressor wll open the w/g sooner, which may cause you to "see" boost levels that are lower than what your w/g spring is rated for. That's mostly due to pressure drop thru the i/c and charge piping. If you connect it to manifold pressure, the w/g won't open until the pressure in the manifold is up to whatever the rating of the spring is.

That's what we're here for!
I used to have my WG tapped close to the compressor. On a hunch (and seeing the way most factory turbo'd cars are done) I connected the WG vacuum line to the intake manifold (after the throttle body). Performance has improved *significantly*, while boost has remained "virtually" the same. I say "virtually" because now I stay at a steady 7 psi all the way up the rev band rather than falling to about 5 psi at redline. Also, if the WG vacuum line is routed pre-throttle body, then it's probably popping open every time you hear your blow off valve...
edit: to put it simply, I routed my WG vacuum line to the same location as the blow off valve vacuum line.
edit #2: I didn't read Insyral's post completely. He explained it pretty well too.
