Default how do u see if a turbo is still good?

sorry if u guys have soo much of this questions.. but i just wanted to know.. how do i tell if the turbo is still good?i wan to turbo charge my car.. i have a 91 accord. wat is the the turbo i should look for.. wat type of turbo should i look for? wats does it matter on a turbo that i should find? wats a/r? i havet lots of questions.. sorry.. i hope somebody can help me.. thanks

well first off you can check the condition overall .and also the amount of shaft play on the turbo.

simply check to see if the shaft moves from side to side a little is fine. if it moves in and out it needs a rebuild, period

ok.. thanks for the reply guy.. well i have a f22a6 engine with a manual swap already.i wan to go FI but wat type of turbo should i look for?wat cars should i try toget it off from?? wats the a/r size? or is it call the exshaut port size.. i dunno know much bout this.. but i wan to learn. i hope somebody would take me in as their student and teach me.. thanks..

what i normally do to see if a turbo is COMPLETE junk, or if it will at least run for a while longer (if it seems possibly borderline, and you don't have many options)

is you lubricate the bearings (drop oil through the oil feed, get it oiled fairly well) then use an air compressor, and feed it through the turbine inlet, it will spin the turbo up to a moderate speed, and generally if there are no problems at this "fairly low speed" then it "shouldn't" have any problems boosting (but there could be seal failure etc.)

You always take your chances, with an "iffy" turbo, but this test has proven to help rule the "hell no it's not going to work" out.
