Mother's makes a nice aluminum polish. You can pick it up at almost any car parts store in the car cleaning section.

Is it okay to power wash the intercooler? Then air it down?

I'd be careful with high pressure water. you don't want to bend any of the fins.

You don't want to use a pressure washer, but if you mean one of those DIY carwash deal with the high pressure spray then you're fine... but a pressure washer will leave you and your intercooler bent out of shape.

You need some " Metal brite" , You can buy it from welding suppy stores. It is acid you mix with water then use a spray bottle and spray the whole intercooler and let it sit for a couple of minutes. You will see it start fizzing up and turn white, you can then spary it off with a hose. You can then polish the end tanks again but the fins will have the bright shiney look again. I use this on manifold to clean them and make them look new again, Works great , it's like $15 a gallon.

i have a couple types of polish i use. mothers is nice though.
for the end tanks, mine are all chipped up and ****, the polish didnt do it, so im gonna take the bumper off and prob sand it with a real fine grit sandpaper, and hit it qwith a buffer to repolish the end tanks make it nice again . as far as the fins, i try to wash it at the car wash and no go , still looks like crap , bugs stuck in the fins and stuff. i usually get in there with a razor blade and pick the **** out and rocks and rebnd any bent up fins.
its a ballbuster for sure
