Default How come no one uses the hks wastegates? Any reason why?

I have the standard 40mm hks wastegate with the 5.7psi spring and I haven't noticed anyone on the board uses them...I was wondering why that is...

Right now I'm am going thru my entire setup and changing things more to my liking and I am changing the manifold and I was going to change the wastegate too...but if what I have is decent then I'm not going to swap it out for something else!

Is there a reason or some type of flaw with this wastegate? I plan on running at 14psi and turn it to 20psi at the track for fun...

No flaws with the wastegate. I think it's because there are more vendors here who sell TiAL products. Another reason is because people think HKS 40mm wastegates are expensive compared to TiAL when they are the same price if not cheaper at times.

I also run the standard hks w/ a 7psi spring, works great. I have no experience with the other wastegates out there, but I definitely would say to the hks

A lot of people still run the HKS. It's just that it's "JDM" and some people like to spend more money on parts from Japan.

Default Re: (BG Boost)

At the time I got it I did so because it was the "free" replacement for the deltagate...

I hadn't had any problems with it either I was only wondering because I heard so much about TiAL and nothing about the HKS...

Another quick question...the car has sat for quite some time, the manifold and wastegate have rust on the outside...the manifold i am changing but since I'm going to keep the wastegate can anyone see any possible problems with the rusting? Like the spring or piston inside and having boosting problems? Just a thought.
