Default How to check for Brake booster leaks?

After driving my car hard, if I slam on the brakes it robs so much vaccuum from my engine. At idle it is usually at 17 in-Hg (I know.. its unusually low) but once I get on the brakes it goes down to 10 in-Hg. It then does the "hunt" as my tach needle dives up and down until it settles or I get on the gas again.

Does this sound familiar to anybody? If so, where should I start looking?

Thanks.
