how can i check for detonation?

how can i check for detonation?
iv got a 95 ls with no knock sensor. id like to know that my ignition timing is ok. how can i check? just pull the plugs?

Do a pull on a safe deserted road, Wherever you wanna check tos ee if you are detonationg, say at redline at WOT, shut it off right away when you hit redline. Disengage the clutch and stop. check plugs. If there are any white specs or kinda dots, that's usually detonation.

how much ignition timing are you running adn at what boost level? you will sometimes hear it but you should dyno tune the car to find safe timing
