Re: (H.A.R.T B18C1EG6)
LSD = more fun
I know this from experience. Taking the turns in my CRX equipped with a stock LS tranny it usually smokes one tire. If I had installed my LSD then it would be more traction when I take the fast turns without having to worry about the car going the wrong way.
Also if you try to launch the car without then you'll most likely spin one tire and have a greater chance of breaking an axle. Believe me, being there done that.
It's all about how much you can afford to spend on your car. GF or Car...hmmmmm
I'm selling my CTR LSD if your interested for $325 shipped, can't afford to put it in now. GF B-Day is coming up and I'm one broke *** Chinaman.

Thank You Captain Obvious!
I was looking for some real life data. For instance "The best 60' I have been able to get without an LSD making 378whp was a 1.96. When I got my LSD I was able to get a 1.74"

It'a all about traction. Having 400whp won't do you any good if you can't put the power to the ground. I have no doubt in my Quaife LSD is a big reason why I am able to run good times. I am only making 230whp, but I am running mid 12's in my heavy *** coupe. My car hooks up extremely well on the street with my drag radials also.

Is this a street car? If not think about welding the diff, thats what I did on my race car until I get a Quaife..

Re: (turbosi03)
I only have 17 passes at the track in my car. My best 60' on drag radials (Nitto 555r 205/55/14 @ 12psi) so far is a 2.081 and my best 60' on slicks (MH 23x8x13 @ 10psi) is 1.787. I'm sure I can improve on those numbers this season with a little more practice. I have never ran my car without the LSD, so I can't give you before and after 60' times.

Re: (beerbongskickass)
I had an open diff in a crx with a boost d16y7 motor, 200whp.. My best 60's were high 1.9's to 2.0's.. I changed to taller slicks and pulled a 1.899 because I got better traction.. I know that number would have been alot lower with a LSD..

On the same Nitto 555r's I was able to pull a 2.1 without LSD. I wasn't able to consistently hit that good of a 60 though.

Re: (RyanCivic2000)
475whp... 24.5in slicks... no 2 step/open diff... 60ft = 1.68-1.71
just takes alot of practice and patience... i just picked up an obx lsd... wanted to try something cheap cause im broke...didnt install yet though

Re: (dunkd)
so, are we talking about .2~.4 off the quarter mi times with LSD? I mean I really can't say without having same driver before and after times... but I was feeling there should be more gains from that $900 piece

.2~.4 doesnt seem like a lot after 60', but after 1/4 mile it makes a huge difference. The way I look at it, anyone can get a 2.0 60', but getting below that 2.0 mark is where a lsd will come into play majorly. A Quaife is worth every bit of $900 to me, but I have drawn the line for this winter. Need the car to be running good and safe before I start dishing in another couple thousand dollars.

Re: (dunkd)
Depends how you drive it. At the track it would be a great help, on the street the difference isn't huge I mean I tend to let off or shift up when I start wheel spinning so the lsd is not really doing a hell of a lot. Yeah it helps in the corners but I can't say I am am breaking the tires loose when cornering much either you basically have to be trying to do it..

Re: (turbozxi)
you have to understand that the launch off the line is probably the most important part of a run down the quarter mile... it shaves a few tenth on the 60ft but by a better launch off the line it can drop the et down significantly more...

Good tyres would of helped though.
