Default Hot Rod Racers...

I have the opportunity to buy my friend's race car shell. It's full race ready and almost ready to go. Complete with cage, fiberglass doors, fiberglass hatch, and all the lexan. No one-piece front end though. Here's the problem...he was going to go full tube frame with it and has already cut out his front floor (firewall to back seat stoop). I don't want to run in Outlaw class so i was going to cut the floors from a scrap CRX i have at the shop and have an expert welder weld it back in. My question is, can i do this....will they let me run in Hot Rod?

Why is he getting rid of it? Is there something wrong with it? Considering it's a scrap Crx then spend the money on it getting welded, and the car would never be as strong as stock again. I'd go threw with tubing it and fill all the gaps in the firewall with insulation (fiberglass on some thin sheetmetal) so you can hear yourself think and won't start sweating every time you drive it. That's my opinion though.

he's getting rid of it because he's built an Integra shell that he will use. He's a friend and i know he wouldn't sell it to me if it had problems. I believe he wants to enter Hot Rod class too with the integra and instead of all motor he's going turbo so the work he's done cutting the CRX has gone to waste.

Why would going turbo effect him with the lighter chassis. It would mean he could use a smaller engine, meaning spend less money. I'm not trying to flame it's just that the logic behind it doesn't make sense. I'd go with a lighter car and build up the weight to his min. with the engine and fuel cell, and if needed weights in the front. I'd still buy it though.

well the whole idea is that he was going full tube all motor in the crx...so for the crx to go turbo he'd have to enter outlaw class...
so he's scrapping the crx and doing the teg simple.
