Hood vents - Lowering engine bay temps.
Summertime is around the corner and i can see my peak boost levels start to drop much sooner than during winter.
I was thinking of installing some kind of vents for DC2, maybe bumper vents too? All aftermarket hoods with vents are fiberglass which i do not want.
I was thinking of something above intake manifold and maybe another near exhaust manifold. any ideas? anyone done something like this?
i know this is somewhat of appearance forum question, but its not so much for cosmetic reasons and turbocharged hondas run much more heat..

It's a matter of bodywork.
Can I ask why you don't want to go with a composite hood? With good bodywork they can look just like a steel hood.

so that type of hood vent basicacly extracts the heat.. i was thinking of sometihng like wrx scoop above intake manifold.
btw.. if you happen to run it before/after and any difference?

I never did do a before and after, never really thought about it. We have a ram air hood like the Kaminari, but I chose to go with this vent style.

<<<<<--------That is where I got it from
The rain? The rain doesn't do anything. The engine bay is already exposed to moisture and it's not goin to make anything rust unless it's rusted already. I live in WA state and it rains a crap load, no problems here.

hood vents will definately keep your engine bay cool especially hoods with vents a bit behind the turbo. i've got a vented CF hood and i can honestly say that it keeps my engine bay super cool. there is a night a day difference between having a vented hood and a non-vented hood from the motor to the firewall.

i've seen people raise the hood closest to the winshield to let heat vent out of there...
not the most asthetically pleasing look, but it should work and its cheap!

... and that's really kewl so yr air ventilation in car sucks up all that hot air from there

that only happens if you run the air on "outside air mode" which most people who have ac run recirculation anyway.

Vis makes an Evo style hood for Civics and Integras made out of carbon fiber. You may want to look into that as well.

I believe a properly vented hood also helps with down force. All the air coming into your engine bay via the bumper vents have to go somewhere…. I’d rather it exit over the car than under it.
