Honing: 60deg vs 30deg
What do you guys hone your blocks to, whether you do it yourself or get it done. I'm getting some conflicting info, my helms manual states 60deg. and most other web sites go for around 30deg. Helms vs Hastings?

The degree of hone is kinda personal preferince... 60 degrees is the happy medium... Too shallow a hone and the oil will retain on the cyl walls... too deep a hone and the oil wont properly lubricate the cylinder walls ( fall off). usually the safe 'range' is 45-60 degrees
