Hondata CEL ?
does hondata effect how you pull codes by jumping the 2 pin plug by the ECU?
my old stock ecu works fine. my s100 ECU wont show my codes when i jump it. I am thinking my ECU is shooting craps. (the board has a bad Q31 piece, but it might have affect more than just that.) |
Re: Hondata CEL ?
no one knows?
|
Re: Hondata CEL ?
you need to go into the rom editor software, or whatever the s100 calls it. on the s300 you go into smanager.

Re: Hondata CEL ?
No you don't. The Hondata ECU doesn't do anything any different than the regular Honda ECU when it comes to showing the codes. All you need to do is jump the Service Check Connector and it will display the codes on you check engine light.
What do you mean by "shooting craps"? Do you have a 3,000 rpm rev limit? It could be the big capacitor on the board has gone south. |
Re: Hondata CEL ?
from a hondata site admin.
"As long as the software version is V1.3.7 or more recent, then the check engine light should flash." @jaker when i jump the plug my CEL stays solid. The car starts hard (i have to modulate the pedal to get it going, no rhyme or reason. it is super random). My tuner and I are scratching out heads about it. I wanted to jump the plug to make sure my timing was dead on. but ran into this issue so I started looking hard at the ECU. once i get the car started it runs good. with no RPM cut off except the 7700. |
Re: Hondata CEL ?
ok i stand corrected.
|
Re: Hondata CEL ?
Solid CEL means there are no codes. That is what the light is supposed to do when you're setting the ignition timing.
Any chance you've got the MAP and TPS plugs mixed up, or maybe the IAT and the Purge Control Solenoid plugs? You wouldn't get a CEL, but the drivability wouldn't be very good. |
Re: Hondata CEL ?
crap. sounds like it is working right then. I thought the light was meant to flash. (even if no codes)
the tuner played with the start up fuel trim, and couldn't make it start any better. He's used this as a starting point on many hondas and never had the issue I have with start up. would my Vitara low CR be an issue? the only think I can think of is a leaky injector. troubleshooting this is a big PITA. |
Re: Hondata CEL ?
leaky injector? what do you mean,
i havent used the rom editor in a looong time. smanager ftw. is there a cranking offset there in the new rom editor? whats your fuel press when starting. try to pull out the rail with the injectors still attached to it and disconnect the distributor socket and start the car. is the injectors spitting fuel in correct sequence and pattern? |
Re: Hondata CEL ?
Watch when running the injectors with the rail pulled from the manifold that the fuel pressure doesn't shoot the injector out. It's happened to me before.
