honda tuning junkyard turbo on crx
anyone seen the newest issue of honda tuning magazine? theres a how-to/article on junkyard turbo kit setups. basically a d00d with a crx put together his own lil kit. he even made his adapter plate, charge pipes, downpipe. not too shabby! said he spent 200-600$ on it... fuel management was FMU and check valves (is that fuel management?)... i dont recall dsm 450s tho. anywho. the point of this...... he dynoed it, made 174whp! and about 169wtq!! thats amazing on a d16a6 (i think) using a t25 (2G dsm turbo). its a junkyard kit!! pretty impressive...
i saw the mag today. so i remember this. but dont know if i missed anything or said something wrong... check it out!!!
if this is a repost somehow, sorry. i searched and nothing came out.

I saw that and thought, I wonder how many people are gonna start blowing up their engines because they saw that article and still haven't the slightest clue about the intricacies of turbocharging. I have been reading and asking questions into this for almost a year and am still learning new things every day.

Personally i hope a lot of idiots blow up their cars. Maybe it will convince a few of em to get out of the import "scene".

keep in mind im sure a lot of people reading that article think the blow off valve is the turbo. yes, i have popped the hood because someone wanted to see my turbo, and then they ask "wheres the turbo?" and im like ITS RIGHT THERE.

did you notice that , that dood was the guy on true life im a street racer, i called him up about his adater plates and him seems to be a pretty cool guy. im thinking about that set up i already have a manifold and i know where to get a intercooler cheap , anyways just wanted to point him out.

I did the set up before the article even came out on my 8 valve crx, swapped to a 16 valve motor and picked up 40 extra horses alone and then shimmed the wastegate to get a steady 5 psi. The car weighs 1830 lbs. Its making 140- 150whp. It is fun as heck, I mad because it only cost $800 which includes the car. So, why are you wanting other people to blow their motor. If you could do it you would. Just because it doesn't say Greddy, or hks you have to **** all over it. I have a race car that I spent $15g's on thats fast as heck but cant take it anywhere because it might get stolen. I have 6 different friends and less then a month built a turbo car. One machined the piece , one did the motor, one ownes a shop, one tuned the car, others watched. What's the big deal? If you could you would. There is nothing wrong with that article. Infact, it may incourage people not to do motor swaps and just do turbo kits. I like the fact the si motor from an 90 crx makes 108 and 98 torque, with boost its not a bad idea. Stop your whining.

I am here to teach people not make fun of them. if they are asking questions, its because they don't know. When somebody says" you have NOS". I explain to them that a turbo is way better but don't discourage their thoughts because thn they will never ask again.

the only bad thing about the article is that the HF manifolds and the other related parts will become hard to find, and the prices for them will likely go up. The HF manifolds are already topping $100 on ebay.
